Computer locked up but did a control alt delete. Computer seems to be working OK now

My computer suddenly got locked up and a message appeared that I should call 1800 320 741 to remove the malware that was the problem. I was told not to restart my computer or do anything else. I rang the number. The lady who answered asked me to download software that would have given them access to my computer. I refused, and she hung up. This is a SCAM designed to gain access to your computer. After I ended the call I was able to restart my computer without any problem.

Pop up message on my ipad saying my firewall had been breached and malware inserted. Said to call this number (supposedly Mac support) urgently. Apple support is a 1300 number.
