Just got this one myself. It even arrived through iMessage from stephanieharrington32246f @ outlook.com. If PayPal were contacting you about fraud, they wouldn’t be doing it from a random Outlook email address.
The giveaway isn’t some clever bit of technology, it’s the psychology. They create panic by claiming a $575 charge will be finalised within two hours, then tell you the only way to stop it is to ring their phone number.
That’s not how PayPal works. Never use the phone number or links in a message like this. Open the official PayPal app or type paypal.com into your browser yourself and check your account. If there’s a genuine issue, it’ll be there.
Scammers rarely hack technology. They hack human psychology. Slow down, verify independently, and their scam falls apart.
