I just had a So called Telstra txt followed straight away by a caller from Telstra claiming they were from the , Billing Area, saying that if we replied to the txt with a pin number straight away , we wld get 30% off our total , bill !!
When I said this is a scam & that I’ll hang up & ring Telstra straight away she said she will delete the offer !!!
I hung up rang Telstra straight away , surprise, surprise , no such offer or call exits !!!
Be careful peeps
Don’t do any PIN number over a txt from Telstra 😀
Stay home , stay safe & b careful NOT to fall victim of a scam

I was also called on 7/8, but the number had only one 0 in front, ie 1800 221 237, which a Google search showed as against the Telstra Shops network, in particular Broadbeach.
So I believed that it was a genuine call from Telstra and that they were giving 30% discount for 3 months for being a "good credit customer" and "due to the current circumstances" which I took to mean Covid, unemployment etc.
They had sent a code, which Telstra do as a step in their validation checks. My understanding is that these are randomly generated when the consultant is talking with you, that they're not a fixed code.
Afterwards I rang that number back and it said that it was disconnected, which didn't overly concern me as I just thought it must be an outgoing number only, which Telstra uses in some situations, and which was also confirmed via a chat with Telstra.
I've since discovered that an Apple iPhone (I don't use these) has been ordered against my account, supposedly by someone who hasn't been associated with the account for about 10 years, however I doubt that it was them.
Telstra are now investigating so I wait to see what happens.
Telstra also confirmed that they are not calling and making an offer of 30% off for 3 months so...
DO NOT ANSWER A CALL FROM THIS NUMBER as it appears to be a SCAM of some sort.

After receiving a text from Telstra with a one time PIN, which made me concerned, I was called from 001800221237 (note the extra 00 at the front) and someone told me they were calling from Telstra Billing. I asked them for a number to call them back on, because I didn't think it was Telstra calling me. They then hung up. This appears to be a scam to try to get you to give them your PIN number so they can access your phone account.
