Got a text from ING from 1800 201 008, asking to call them. googled number & found to be scam. Very sophisticated as wording looks legit, with no spelling or grammar errors. Went onto ING's website/Contact Us area and found phone number to be different.

DEFINITELY A SCAM. DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER!
I just received a text message from this number purporting to be from ING, asking me to call them on 1800 201 008 or + (02) 4355 9475 "at your earliest convenience between 8am-8pm AEST/AEDT Monday to Friday." It also said "PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO THIS MESSAGE."

I was immediately suspicious. I checked the ING Australia website and it does NOT use that 1800 or 4355 number. Then I found a news article and this webpage warning about this scam. I also checked my ING account app and found no unusual transactions, or problems either (eg. being overdrawn, or unexplained transactions).

Please take extra care as the email *did* look quite professional and like the kind of SMS that ING or another bank may send.

SCAM pretending to be ING bank. I also received a very convincing email from this scammer. Any comments on here claiming the number is legitimate I suspect is part of the scam

This is not a scam, they are contacting to confirm TAX and income details, to combat Money Laundering, proceeds from crime etc. They messaged me and I went on the website to confirm the number, it is a genuine number.

this actually is ING, I forwarded the emails I received saying to call this number to ING's fraud team, and they replied to tell me it is a real ING message and number. Since then they have updated their official website to now include this 1800 201 008 number.

Same as previous messages. Received a text message asking us to call asap. They provided a 1800 number & a number for if you are overseas.
Neither number match the ones that ING have on their website.
The text message looked quite convincing.

Scam, pretends to be from ING bank, also left a voicemail message on a private number using a real voice in a casual tone and said my name and asked me to call them back on this number 1800 201 008. Phone number was not listed on ING's official website and is therefore a scam.

Also received two emails pretending to be from ING at the same time with legitimate looking branding, and again asking me to call this number 1800 201 008. One email said to call them, and the other email said I had a message in my account and to log in to read it, (I haven't had an ING account for years).

Another text message with instructions to call ING on a number that does not belong to ING. Scamalama!

This was the same for me. Checked thier website and discovered phone number was for none of thier financial/ insurance contacts.

Message said contact ING regarding recent application. Checked ING phone nos on their website and this number didn’t show. Scam.

Also had a text saying to call 1800 201 008 as my ING accounts are apparently about to be restricted due to no response to ING's request for information.
