Yep scammers. Had msg pop up blocking my use of google chrome and to call this number. They almost got me to download programs before I sensed dodgy.

I feel like really silly in that I actually called this 'Apple' number - normally I check phone numbers and did not. Thankfully found this page of feedback from these people and ended the remote access immediately. Thankfully no damage done my end!

I have had to deal with these crooks twice. My local techo installed security that these amateurs cannot penetrate.

Our son was on facebook and after clicking on something he said the voice message actually 'announced' that his mac was infected and to ring the him 1800 016 376 number. Unfortunately our son did so without telling us. They then called him on his mobile and gave the impression it was a legit call but my son then gave them remote access to 'delete' the virus. By the time our son told us we googled the number and came across this page as well as other pages. In the meantime they kept calling my sons mobile and I told them off and hung up. They rang back again pretending they were legit but we just hung up. We then checked his bank account and saw that the entity TECHSQUADS247 had withdrawn $393 from his account. Sent email to his bank and by a stroke of luck the bank prevented the transaction first thing in the morning.

I got the same message to call Apple Support on 1800 016 376 as my computer had been blocked and that my MAC had been effected by a virus and spyware and that it would permanently be disabled. That did not occur, beware. The phone number is not listed for Apple in Australia or Overseas. It's a scam.
