Caller: Telstra 133933
Received a phone call advising aTelstra technician is working on my local exchange and they are getting no message from my Modem. Asked them where the exchange is - "I ask the questions." Asked where they are -42 Exhibition St Melbourne (confirmed as well). Noted that the incoming number was shown as private so asked more questions . The the supervisor came on line - also Indian- asked address again - now 242 Exhibition St. When told it did not look like a Telstra office on Google maps told we are on the 5th floor. BTW my NBN connection is from a tower not through the local exchange (which we don't have here in central Victoria.

I received a text from 133933 came up as TELSTRA. Message said "there is an issue with your home internet, and we need you to help us resolve it for you now. Please message us here https://fix.telstra.com/deeplink? serviceType=broadband&sy.mptom=cannot connect" Your Telstra Smart Modem switched to 4G mobile backup 3 days ago. We want to help you switch back as soon as possible so that you can get back on your plan speed". This sounds pretty legit right?
Wrong its a scam. Had a phone call at 9.30pm last night to say I needed to click on the link. Confirmed to me, plus reading the messages above its a definite scam. Hard to know what is real anymore

Call today from Peter of Telstra saying computer needs to be switched off for testing. Indian accent. I asked for Telstra ID number and call back number. The number was 133933. Nothing wrong with my internet so I knew it was a scam call.

Caller: Telstra ???
I have received several calls over the last couple of days followed by texts (because I don't answer) saying they are trying to contact me about the email issue, please call 133933. Because I don't have any open issues with Telstra regarding an email issue I concluded they are scam calls.

Caller: I don't really know (sms via my wife's phone)
Out of the blue message received on my wife's phone reading (my actual name) "we have tried to contact you about the email issue. Please call 13 39 33 when you are available. If we don't hear from you within 24 hours your ticket will be automatically closed" This has SCAM written all over it. Firstly, why would they sms my wife's phone to reach me? Why not call me? Why not email me? Why not sms me? They don't even sign off with any mention of Telstra. Since deregulation of the Australian Telco network I've become very wary of spam/scammers trying to reach out to me especially in an unsolicited manner most days. May God help the trusting individuals still left in our community!

Caller: Not called, but was referred in-person by Telstra employee to phone them.
The number is legitimate for Bigpond technical support. I visited a Telstra shop in person last week. They did not have the technical expertise in-shop to help my query about NBN and Bigpond, so they referred me to this phone number specifically.
Always possible that earlier messages people have received came from a bogus source that quoted a genuine number. But why would anyone bother other than to waste someone's time?

Received this text message twice already: "URGENT: Reconnect to your primary home broadband service immediately to avoid having your back up mobile connection restricted. Need Help? Contact us on 133 933."
What gave it up as suspicious is that I have a Telstra smart modem which switches onto mobile network and back to home broadband automatically with text messages from Telstra advising on each change. I've checked my connection and it was on primary NBN home broadband at the time of the funny text messages.

I got a similar text. I called Telstra 13 22 00 to see if it was a hoax. They said that they don't send text out like that. They usually send emails and that it wasn't recorded on their system. Total scam
