Caller: Scammer claiming to be AGL Electricity

I received one text to remind me of a due electricity account (after already paying). I confirmed with my provider that it was a scam. Now I have received an overdue account reminder that gives this number to call (as well as the dodgy web link). IGNORE!!!!!!

Caller: Overseas number claiming to be from AGL.

Scammer claiming to be from AGL left a message on the answering machine asking me to ring 1300 657 452. They used my full name in the message. I did not ring the number as it does not match the number on my bill. Obviously this scam is still going.

This scam is still going on in Dec 2022 - I got a few phone calls from them (no caller ID) with an automated voice saying it's an important call from AGL for me (with my name), asking to dial "1" which I ignored. If you don't pick up, they leave an automated message on your voicemail asking to call the 1300 657 452 number.

This number is definitely a spam. My house isn't even finished and have some work to do before I can live in it, such as power being connected up (can't turn on any lights, lamps, all electrical equipment)! And no work has been done on my house over the past couple of months, as I'm planning to pay off a couple of bills first, before continuing with the project. They are out to get your money! Don't ring back!

Caller: Agl

Left a voice message saying my real name to On my landline phone to call urgent
I did call (Engaged signal )as I had paid the bill 2 days late as my husband recently passed away
I’m so sick of these scammers taking advantage of people when they are at their most vulnerable !!

i received a scam sms purporting to be from AGL with whom I do not have an
account and that number 1300 657 452 is not listed on AGL website!

It really is AGL. I set up a prepaid payment & ended up $900 in credit - so I stopped it & got a text message. I just wasted 45 minutes on the phone being told I'm supposed to continue paying
So I said FINE - give me back my $900 & I'll pay the $83 p.f.
It is AGL

Caller: AGL apparently NOT!

And here we are 20/8/23 and AGL And TELSTRA still have not shut this scammer down.

I just got the same thing, I called the number and it hung up on me
I checked my bill, all up to date
Such evil people in this world.

I got a call as well as sms from this number pretending as from AGL. Beware, it's a scam.

Caller: AGL scammer 1300 657 452

A scam and I knew it. Phoned them on an unlisted (silent) number and had 30 minutes of fun until they hung up. AGL, our largest gas and electricity billing company should spend heaps to shut the scammers down. Two years and they haven't. I possibly could with help of my friends. But I am over 60 yo and thought of as a dinosaur.

scam. SMS a large bill, not the forst time either. Got my name wrong. Also.sent a web link that I looked out out of curiosity. It goes straight to a payment page for the amount listed and asking for your credit card. Don't pay!!!!!

Dear all,
Just IGNORE this call, don't even try to ring back, they want to have access to our credit card or debit card. SCAM, absurd!

Received sms message stating that that my latest instalment had not been received and to ring 1300 657 452 to discuss options. I rang back to an automated recorded message that sounds like AGL, my full name was on the recorded message. Press option 1 if you have paid or option 2 to make a payment. I pressed option1. I have now since discovered that this 1300 number is not a legitimate AGL number.

Received anon message to answering service 15 Dec 2020. Had my correct name.
Number left does not coincide with AGL. Number given was 1300 657 452
Did not return call

Similar story to many above. Call from AGL and call back on 1300 657 452. Thank you for everyone reporting this SCAM and stopping me from calling it.

Just had a no caller ID call me 4 times today the 4th time they said it was AGL and an urgent call then said my partners name in full and to ring the 1300 657 452. We don’t have an AGL account.

I got all of above plus (a few weeks later) an additional charge on my phone bill for enhanced SMS. I dont know what it is but definatly stay away from that number !!!

I have an agl account and got a recorded message supposedly from agl that used my name saying to call their fully automated service 1300 657 452 immediately. I rang agl on their direct number to confirm there was no real problem. Definitely a scam caller
