Had a call from a foreign sounding guy who knew my name and started talking about my phone line rental. Had to press him several times to find out where he was from. Eventually he said Magnum Telecom and reluctantly offered a number --1300 529 277. They appear to work out of France and Lebanon though this guy claimed they were Australia-based.
Anyone been called by these people?

Leaving several messages to get back on why this and that aren't working been week now, and now annoying the hell out of me ..

After reading all these comments Im feeling confused. I received a call as well and decided to give it a go and so far (touch wood) Ive only been paying exactly what I should be. In fact my average bill from them has been $75.00 compared to my average from Telstra of $190.00. Not sure what the problem is...

I'm totally embarrassed to admit they caught me. I was contacted by an Indian sounding man several months ago and, although I ALWAYS have hung up on such callers in the past, this time I didn't. Am kicking myself now. Have been stung for 2 bills for a total of $170 and they are still insisting I 'owe' them more. I am not paying another sou. I have the feeling that at least some of the people at the 'Care' line I've spoken to don't know they are working for scammers. As for me, I am going back to hanging up on any calls that start with crackly noises, and am swearing off answering any phone call at all when I'm dog-tired, as that's when I stupidly goy myself into this mess.

we get regular calls from an Indian man from this company telling me that we have been double charged by my current providers they knew my ph number and everything they said I owe them money but I have NEVER heard of them before never signed up for anything with them nor have I ever seen a bill from them after saying I'm going to escalate the Indian gent ended the call I the. called my phone provider who is Telstra they advised to not give these people any details!!!!

Female caller offered me phone call rates too good to be true and stated 'free' local calls. I explained I lived in Kimberley, she confirmed I could call Perth for free (it is a local call) When I expressed my confusion she ignored my question then pressed me for details to confirm my identity. I did NOT divulge any info thinking they were identity thefts. She got extremely angry on the phone when I did not give my details. She hung up on me.

At 10,00am 30/8 I was contacted by a heavily Indian accented caller from this company who when pressed gave the company name as Magnum Telecom Australia and claimed to be in Melbourne. I kept the call going out of concern for its bulldozing manner by which the elderly perhaps would be persuaded. I was told to get a pen and paper the caller would wait. Four points were dictated. Scorn was expressed for my lack of conviction and I twice had to state very firmly that I had not agreed to the revised plan for which she stated she had tentatively signed me up. Which was OK she said under any circumstances as when I received it in the post there was a ten day withdrawal option.I complained heatedly about the amount of detailed information she had of my Telstra Account. At 6pm there was another call from a different representative who when asked directly agreed she was from Magnum Telecomof the same company

Just had a call from Magnum Telecom Australia at around 6pm Wed 4 Jul 2012 trying to sell their discounted product to replace our existing landline. Managed to get the details below. Dave from Magnum Telecom Australia Tel:1-(03) 0052 9277. Heavy accented indian accent.

Had a call from Magnum Telecom just now. The caller said from now on, with our 'existing provider', we would have unlimited local and national calls and no line rental. I was, of course, suspicious and said I was going to google the company - he hung up while I was gone.

Had a similair experience on 14/4/12 with the guy selling phone/broadband bundles. Magnumtelecom web site list them as selling phone jamming devices, infrared equipment, armoured cars and explosives detecting equipment.
