Recorded message wanting me to call 1300 403 202 urgently as I owe Alinta energy $$ - which I don't. Message sounds convincing as they know your name and ask you to press numbers for more info etc. I spoke to them once for about 15 minutes without saying "yes" or giving any info to them - very convincing BUT A TOTAL SCAM.
Surely the origin of these calls can be traced as they are using our phone network - Get to it tech nerds!

repeated message saying "this is an important call regarding an outstanding payment for alinta energy please call this number". just heads up they wont do this. if they need to contact you they will attempt to email you or an actual person will attempt to speak to you, not a bot.

Have received multiple letters and calls regarding an “unpaid” amount outstanding for a deceased person. The phone number given does not match my contact number for Alinta. When I phoned them on the correct number I was advised there is no amount outstanding.

SCAM!

Odd that it occurred just after leaving Alinta.

Alinta did not want to know any information about this scam which surprised me. One would think they would want to protect their company name and clients. Not so.

This type of issue appears to have become rife since the introduction of offshore call centres.

AVOID.
