It is indeed a legit. ATO number apparently, but somehow hacked or diverted by scammers.
They rang my receptionist (from a silent number) and requested a return call to 1300 146 094, then 102 on the prompt., and asked to have the TFN ready.

My accountant has had other clients approached by these mongrels, and after the TFN they request bank details.

The ATO advises against responding to such requests, and to request the name of the individual calling.

I can confirm it is a legitimate number for the ATO too. I returned the call.

A guy called Lee left me a message asking me to call 1300 146 094 code 108 - I cannot find this number any where on the ATO.Gov.au web site and the Chat Bot is clueless. If the ATO wants me to contact them on this number then they should ensure the number can be found using the search option on their page. If any of you guys found it them please provide a link to the page - Cheers...

I received a text message today to call 1300 146 094 with an extension # of 103? I checked the ATO website but it doesn't state this phone number or extension number either.

I received an SMS from an unidentified number that displayed as "ATO". Seems to be the same as some others, asking "RACHAEL DAVIS" to call the 1300 146 094 followed by 1 0 2.

Left a voice message to contact them about my ABN registration. I contacted the ATO directly and they confirmed the number 1300 146 094 is not an ATO number. Be careful. Do not trust some of the comments on this site.

This is a legit ATO call back number. I called the ATO and had it confirmed.

It's likely legit. ATO do send messages. They have called you because your number was on your mothers account. At any time go to ato.gov.au and get a number off the official website to confirm. Outbound calls leave a note on your account so you can call any official number to verify.

I was out of the office ,today,received a message from my receptionist to phone ato 1300 146 094 extension 102 and a long 13 digit reference number to quote,does not sound legitimate

Lady claiming to be from ATO. Asked to confirm my details. I refused , she understood and gave me 1300 146 094 with ex 103 and a reference number. I rang ATO on 132861. Was legitimate call. Although calling for my aged mother in laws tax returns not mine. They asked for Mrs. smith. Well that’s me too.

Received advice from my tax agent that ATO does not contact someone via text. So don't respond.

I got so many calls from the person today by asking about my abn & gst. I didn't reply as I heard so many times about fraud from callers & then they asking account details. The guy then he sent me a voicemail message in which this number 1300 146 094 is mentioned.

Yes it is legitimate, it is their fraud line. You must have made a mistake on your return that has flagged their system ie date of birth.

I found this page on the ATO website that lists the number, so I think it's legitimate.
