I called back a missed call and it was Melanoma Research Foundation.

i called back number (08) 9425 5226 reached voice mail but did not hear the name of the company properly because of a bad recording.

I took a call from this number, a lady claimed to be from the Melanoma Research Institute (or similar) and asked me to donate to a fundraising raffle. The woman had an Australian accent and behaved in exactly the same way as other (genuine) fundraising calls I've previously fielded. I agreed to pay $20 by credit card. One day later the bank contacted me to say that my card had been compromised and there were 2 fraudulent transactions. It appears that the call I took from 'MRI' was a scam - but it was very convincingly done. I note that in the 'Recent calls' log on my phone, a note now appears next to this number saying 'Potential Fraud'.

Lovely lady asking if I would support melanoma research by buying a ticket in the raffle. When I said NO she hung up!!

Had a quick chat with a chap and when I said I wasn't interested he hung up without a comment...

Scam - NOT Melanoma Research Foundation. From their website: "The Australian Melanoma Research Foundation (AMRF) has been made aware of a fundraising raffle campaign by another organisation with a similar name. This has caused much confusion.

The AMRF does NOT solicit donations by phone, by post or in person."
