Caller: A scammer

When my answering machine fired up, it started leaving an automated - computer generated message about the ATO and a reference no. I hung up the phone to terminate the call. The ATO does not phone people and besides I have an accountant who would get an ATO call first, if it were genuine.

The ATO don't arrest people and only give out 1300 ph. nos. Also they don't contact through prerecorded messages. I contacted the ATO and THE AFP. This number is connected to a current scam and the authorities are aware. Don't call back and block it.

Hello, I just received a call from this same phone number - (08) 8121 8082 - it was a man claiming to be from eBay and advising my account was going to be charged $299 for a purchase. I know this to be a scam and hung up immediately. I have now blocked this number
I hope someone stops him soon.

Robocall - Apparently an arrest warrant has been issued against me for tax evasion. The message asked me to get my lawyer to call back on this number. I hung up.

I was called (08) 8121 7802 with the same automated message. Scared me half to death. Found it quite upsetting. Have blocked number. Thank you to those who leave these messages and relieving my anxiety

Yeah definitely a scam number. Tell them to go f*ck themselves if they actually talk to you

Call purporting to be from this number and saying ATO call re warrant for arrest and execution for tax fraud! Unbelievable - so much for the do not call register and a private number - these 'bots' need to be stopped. Someone will actually believe this crap like the ATO would call and warn you and talk about execution.

Absolute scam call, on answering it starts playing a robo call message - artificially read, text to voice message unsuccessfully designed to disguise bad English.
Pretending to be from the "Australian Tax Office", it threatens the recipient to dial what appears to be a local number (beware, it is not a local number, it's a VoIP number disguised to look like a local number) and to quote the voicemail message code reference or "further prosecution and imprisonment" will result.

Got a robocall claiming to be the police/ATO threatening an audit, saying to call their provided number.

Answered the phone - robotic voice claiming to be from Tax Office - told legal action is pending if I do not call the number. THIS IS A SCAM. Check the ATO website and you will hear the scam recording as a warning to people to not be caught out by these fraudsters. This is NOT an ATO phone number.
