Googled the number and found this page.. And learned they are dirty f-----g curry nigger scum trying to scam people by pretending to be the ATO.

I jusT got this call from this number... the guy with asian accent was pretty much reading his notes on wht to say.... and when I asked him how come I didn't get any message via MyGov he had no clue wht MyGov is... once he finished his talking I asked him to keep the refund and then he hung up

ATO tax scammers...trying to trick those who doesnt know how ATO works.

Too late, I only found this page now !!! :) Earlier today, I returned a missed call from this # and was asked for my bank/credit card details so they can transfer my tax refund ?! I said I already had received my tax return ... then he tried to explain why and how and all the bs !!! Anyway, I told him no, ATO should already have my details already .. He gave me a few more reasons but couldn't convince me so he hang up !!!
Anyway, what impressed me is the "background noise of people talking on the phones", makes it seem legit as if he was calling from a call center !!!

Its an Adelaide number via the sub continent Same as all the other wants to give an ATO refund if you ring them back they answer its the ATO if you tease them they They hang up SCAMMERS

Received a call from these guys saying they wanted to send an EFT to my visa debit card for tax refund, wanted to know the balance of my account?? (Ur joking right?!) told them my account is in debit...they told me I need to have a minimum of $500 in my account for them to process the refund...ahh WTF?! Who needs to have their account in credit to receive a refund?? When I enquired why my account needed to be in credit he got very rude and hung up on me! Called this Indian "Steven Brown" back to background noise of chatter and laughter...asked why people were laughing that it's not a very professional phone manner for a government business...told me he couldn't control what other people where doing! Ummm ok....
Have reported these a**holes to the ATO and my bank, told them this and that if they were trying to scam and debit my account that the bank and ATO were aware of what their up to....said they would call me back...haha ah ok sure.
Can't believe these guys...out there try to scam genuine hard working people of what little money they have!!! f*ckers!!

With thick Indian accent and claim his name is Ray Hamilton from ATO and even provide an employee ID
Need Debit Card Visa Or Mastercard so can transfer the tax refund
Can only be done online and unable to send an email

I got a call from this number asking for $1000.00 otherwise I would be arrested.

Tax return scam. When I told him to go through my accountant that they also should have on file he then said it had to go through me. I laughed and asked what’s the scam. He then ended the call.

ATO Refund.. Needed my credit card details to do an EFT transfer (how does that work !)... I played along anyway. Said I had plenty of different cards, Visa, Mastercard take your pick. He got very excited and wanted me to read out the numbers. I asked him why I am getting a refund when I had already got my refund from the ATO, to which he hung up

Got a call from this number twice with no-one saying anything. I called them back and they said they were from ATO and had a tax return to give me. Just need my c/c number so they can put the money in via EFT....... cause that makes sense! I pulled them up on the whole sting and he quickly said the cheque will be sent out tomorrow and quickly hung up. Pretty poor operation. Reported them to the ATO
