Received the same email 15 Aug 2022. I immediately isolated the attached .pdf and uploaded it to Jotti's Malware Scanner, which scans a file with many different anti-virus and threat detectors... nothing bad turned up, but the file and email are such an obvious trap to try and lure people into calling their number. I think the person above was correct who said the goal is to get you to type the 3-digit code to connect you elsewhere, so you get charged premium rates for the call.

The fact that the file is an image with no text to copy is another giveaway. The email itself begins with a completely DIFFERENT threat, oh no dodgy cookies have been placed on your computer! Then if you read the .pdf, it's a completely different topic, now it's talking about this ridiculous $499 charge for a year of Norton, several times the real price. So they're just piling on every scary thing they can think of in a rather ham-handed, over-the-top method. Not the way real companies do things!! Complete garbage, but less experienced users might think it's best to investigate and get stung.

Don't believe a word of this! Notice also, it's from a free gmail account! Norton would NEVER contact you this way, and if you had legitimately bought the product, this is not the only contact you would get... where's the complete-your-registration link, a real receipt with your name on it (not just "from the card attached to your account, whatever that is") where's the help to get it running and so on. Notice also the first thing they talk about is not, hooray now you're protected, but "you only have 24 hours to dispute it".
It's all, panic panic rush now coz we charged you this exorbitant fee and we want you to call and fix it!! Who does that, right?

They sent an email saying they received my money for Norton antivirus. Checked bank account and then searched for the phone number to land here. Definitely a scam phone number and email

Caller: Scammers sent Email SPAM

This number is appearing in Email SPAM and claims your PayPal account has been charged.

You are asked to contact a Help-line number to dispute the charges or cancel the order. The number is presented as: (08) 7200 0085 (Australian phone number)

The scam is a variation on the refund scam used with Amazon, Ebay and other known businesses. The Email is an image file that looks like standard Email but you can not copy and paste the text.

Caller: This was an email with same number to call to cancel large order for $499.

Email with receipt from Norton for $499 from Irina Caal <irinacaal2931 @ gmail.com>
Date of email 8/8/22

email says ....

Performance and Functionality cookies collect data that is used to help make the user experience better on our websites.

#Thank you for your order #23F4N6F5D

Seems they want you to call this number, when you call voice immediately asks you to dial a 3 digit code which could redirect you anywhere and charge you god knows what!
