It is a well written email that are using PayPal details. Be careful!

Scam.

Didn't get called by the number but received a notification from PayPal that I had a payment request from "Oscar Rodriguez" with the contact email "reprusii @ rjolympics.com". The full message in the note was the following:

"We have detected some suspicious activities with your PayPal account. If you did not make this transaction, please call us at toll free number (08) 7130 3544 to cancel and claim a refund. If this is not the case, you will be charged $1499. 99 today. Within the automated deduction of the amount, this transaction will reflect on PayPal activity after 24 hours. Our Service Hours: (06:00 a. m. to 06:00 p. m. Pacific Time, Monday through Friday)"

Caller: Did not call but sent an email with that phone number as "contact us"

A scammer with that phone number ((08) 7130 3544) who send an email containing a fake paypal invoice while claiming a payment!!!! Be careful! They pretend to be Paypal...

Caller: "paypal" - emailled me

I got an email from paypal.com.au ( i thought the .au at the end was odd) saying I was being charged $1499.99 if I don't call this number. I rang the number to suss it out, and an indian male answered immediately! So that was suss right off the bat. He then said "you don't want to get scammed so I need to do something to your computer!! "
Presumably put spyware on it?
NASTY SCAMMERS!! It's so awful that some people fall for this stuff!

Caller: PayPal Scam

They are requesting money through PayPal, email and SMS comes from PayPal but they are sending the invoice from within their platform. PayPal aren't doing anything about it by the look. Don't pay, obviously :)

a legit email from paypal lands in your account asking you to call this number to resolve an issue with a payment request. when you call it's clearly a scam as they are trying to get account information from you and they direct you to a website which is not linked to paypal

You can safely ignore this invoice if you're not buying anything from this seller. PayPal won't ask you to call or send texts to phone numbers in an invoice. We don't ask for your credentials or auto-debit money from your account against any invoices. Contact us if you're still not sure.

Exactly as others here are saying. PayPal Invoice notification for a Jessica Hartley $1499.99 to my business account. Looks legit but Scammers!!

I received an email the seemed to be from PayPal. It was titled: You've got a money request. I rarely use Paypal. The email said that "Lorena Perez" was requesting money, and "Lorena" sent the following message: "We have found some suspicious activities with your account. If you did not make this purchase, please call us at toll free number (08) 7130 3544 to cancel and claim a refund. If this is not the case, you will be charged $1,499. 99 today. Within the automated deduction of the amount, this transaction will reflect on PayPal activity within 24hours to 48 hours. Our Service Hours: (06:00 a. m. to 06:00 p. m. Pacific Time, Monday through Friday)."

Some of the spacing is off in the message, but overall, it looks legit. I did not click anything and I went into my PayPal account, where, indeed, "Lorena" was requesting money. I think PayPal actually generated the email with the message (so the email itself if authentic, I think), but the message within the PayPal email was made by Lorena (scammer). I think because PayPal sends the legit message, it adds a legitimacy to the entire message, since the scammer has aligned herself with PayPal.
I canceled the money request and printed a copy of the cancellation. I can certainly see how a person might fall for this, especially if the person uses PayPal frequently, and is busy. Hope this helps someone sooner rather than later.

Email is absolutely perfect! If it hadnt gone to an email not attached to my Paypal account this might have got me!
