Scam still going at August 2012. Indian woman rings with blurb as described by others. When questioned, claims to be from JARS Services at the phone number in the title.

Absolute scam and i almost fell for it, beaware

Had a call from this number re virus on Microsoft.  I asked how they got my details and he said from when I registered the software.

I then asked him to tell me what date I registered the software......the guy got annoyed!!

I hung up and called Microsoft - this is a scam.

i rang back to "windows department". show u errors in event registry, then to clean them, they want to hook into your computer to "clean" them. i laughed & said "i was waiting to see how the scam worked", they immediately hung up.

Hi All,I just received this call, and when asked he gave me the number 08700 410 12 too. It turns out it's a well known scam, they are just cold calling people and assuming they have a windows computer due to their popularity, they then download a virus to your computer, hang up straight away!

I received a call today from "Kevin" (Asian accent)  from Jar Support, Adelaide. I told him I am on the "Do Not Call" register and that his call was illegal. He protested that he was legit so I got his name, the name of the company and a phone number: 08 700 41213 and then hung up. When I tried to ring this number, what a surprise, I found that there was no such number!

I got a call from this number 2 days ago, saying from Microsoft & they have detected viruses on my computer ... blaa blaa blaa, and for some idiodic absured reason I followed one of his instructions (I must had had a few drinks by this stage coz I normally wouldnt do it) and then I said I better not and told him to call back in an hour when hubby was home. Needless to say he didnt call back. Then all day today my internet has not been working, I called my provider and got it sorted out. Then about 5mns ago, he called again, he didnt even remember speaking to me, I told him he had called a few days ago and that I dont want to do it as I believe it is a scam and he could not hang up quick enough !!

He said his name was Rikki & when asked where he was calling from he said Adelaide, also he had an indian accent. I asked for his number the other day & he gave me (08) 7004 1012 & when I hung up from him, I called the number back just to see what kind of an answer I would get & it was an aussie accent and appeared to be someones landline number.

Had a call from this number saying they were from Microsoft, and that my computer was reported as having viruses. Funny that... considering I have a Mac.

Once I told him that, he just hung up.

Scam.

Should report it to the Police.
