Scam still going at August 2012. Indian woman rings with blurb as described by others. When questioned, claims to be from JARS Services at the phone number in the title.

Absolute scam and i almost fell for it, beaware

Got a similar call to those above, saying first that Microsoft had been monitoring our computer for five days and had detected problems. I asked him to confirm our static ip address on which the monitoring had taken place, but he couldn't. I then likened him to a constipated elementary canal and told him not to waste my time, at which he hung up. It was obviously a scam of some sort.

I got a call from this number 2 days ago, saying from Microsoft & they have detected viruses on my computer ... blaa blaa blaa, and for some idiodic absured reason I followed one of his instructions (I must had had a few drinks by this stage coz I normally wouldnt do it) and then I said I better not and told him to call back in an hour when hubby was home. Needless to say he didnt call back. Then all day today my internet has not been working, I called my provider and got it sorted out. Then about 5mns ago, he called again, he didnt even remember speaking to me, I told him he had called a few days ago and that I dont want to do it as I believe it is a scam and he could not hang up quick enough !!

He said his name was Rikki & when asked where he was calling from he said Adelaide, also he had an indian accent. I asked for his number the other day & he gave me (08) 7004 1012 & when I hung up from him, I called the number back just to see what kind of an answer I would get & it was an aussie accent and appeared to be someones landline number.

I just received this call, and when asked he gave me the number 08700 410 12 too. It turns out it's a well known scam, they are just cold calling people and assuming they have a windows computer due to their popularity, they then download a virus to your computer, hang up straight away!

We had a call from this name telling us that we have a downloaded a virus on our computer.  He first introduced himself as from Microsoft and by the end of the conversation said he was from "Jar Support".  My wife who answered the first call said he would need to speak to me about computer issues, he then offered his name as_Donnie Jackson and his phone number as the number listed.  I rang him on this number to confirm it was a scam, he was pushing we had viruses and wanted me to get on the computer and he would guide me through the process.  I asked how he managed to get my phone number and he said from my IP address, collected when we purchased our Microsoft software.  It was at this point I said I wondered how this was possible seeing we don't own Microsoft software.  He then asked what software do we have and I did not give him this information and told him I would take it to fair trading and report him and this number; he then said " OK i am going now!".

I received a call today from "Kevin" (Asian accent)  from Jar Support, Adelaide. I told him I am on the "Do Not Call" register and that his call was illegal. He protested that he was legit so I got his name, the name of the company and a phone number: 08 700 41213 and then hung up. When I tried to ring this number, what a surprise, I found that there was no such number!
