They called and sent a txt msg Hi my name, could you please contact Smily on (08) 6477 1851 in relation to my friends. Thank you.

Voice msg said the same thing. My friend passed away a few years ago. They would have got my friends name from Facebook. The voice msg sounded Asian.

Left a voice and text message asking about an old friend, said they would like me to contact them. What worries me is how they had my number and my name. My friend said it's a scam.

Caller: Smily - Credit Company

Asked me if I knew a person from my socials who they wanted to get in contact with.
Had all the hallmarks of a possible scam / Indian call centre rort. Said I wasn't going to assist them and hung up.

I didn't pick up the phone call but they left a voicemail message and they did know my first name; said they were called Smily and to call back in relation to a Romy Ngyuen - whom I have never heard of. Also left an sms with the same message "Hi xxx, could you please contact Smily on (08) 6477 1851 in relation to Romy. Thank you."

Sounds like a persistent scammer or scamming team

Indian lady named Smily who is asking to speak to a person I know (gave their first and last name in the call) and stated they have been trying to get in contact with them for some time. Said I wouldn't pass on the message until I knew where they were calling from as the friend they were asking about is in a highly confidential place of work (assumed it was a work related call). Wouldn't disclose so said they would send a text message with their details. Weirdly enough spelt the person's name I know correctly too and it's a unique spelling.

The worst part about this, is the number isn't flagged for a spam call. Very scary...

Called asking if I knew a distant friend and stated they have been trying to get in contact with them for some time. Sent a text message afterwards with details to pass on to said friend for them to contact them. Likely possible debt collectors/scam. Did not engage further.
