Said she was from eBay and someone was trying to buy a gift card from eBay for $499 and they were based in California.
I have 2 factor verification on my account so I don’t think that’s possible.
She wanted to help me cancel the transaction from her end and I declined.
To be safe I went and changed my password for eBay.

Caller: Said her name is Jessica. Indian accent

Said she was from Telstra and asked if I had noticed slow internet. Told her I hadn’t switched computer on over weekend. Was told many homes in my area were experiencing slow connection over the last week along with breaches of security on our account.
When I mentioned that my husband is an IT employed by a large company Jessica hung up.

Obviously a scam.

Caller: "Amazon"

Scam - Said someone was trying to buy Apple gift cards using my Amazon account. I lied and said it was me and they pivoted and gave me someone else email address to prove that someone else was trying to use my account. They knew my email address, phone number (obvs) and an old address (the one that is in the phone book).

Said she was from eBay and someone was trying to buy a gift card from eBay for $499 and they were based in California.
I haven't used the account in years so I was shocked. She told me that my computer had been hacked and information stolen.
She wanted to help me cancel the transaction from her end and I declined. She was quite adamant that I needed to take action so I told her to call me back in an hour.
I called ebay in the intervening time and they confirmed there had been no action on my account and that they don't actively call anyone unless requested.
To be safe I went and changed my password for eBay. Scammer called me back later from a different number so I knew it was a scam.

Caller: Michael from Telstra

Indian caller says from Telstra rang twice on 2 different phone numbers with this being one of them. Saying that I have an unauthorised user of my phone number. It was a bad line so I hung up and he rang back on a different phone number. I just moved my provider from Telstra so I know it is a scammer so hung up.
