I've had these people calling me for weeks and I've had such fun with them cos they're such dumb 💩's and so far I've been Ma-Hat macoat, Bob Down, Shirley Ballroom, Jon Popadom, Julia Roberts, Kevina Rudd 😂😂🤣🤣🤣

Claimed it was fraud division on services Australia and that they were going to arrest me if I didn’t push 1

I didn't listen to it after reading these complaints.It makes you wonder why ' the government' wouldn't track down and prosecute whoever is falsely calling saying they are the ATO

I am offended that both the government is doing nothing about these calls specially when they say its the ATO. Also why is Telstra not doing anything about this?

Me too Exactly the same as above voice recorded message saying fraud division, suspicious activity on my tax file number and my tax file number has been suspended.

As per previous comments

Don't even bother calling back.

Just block and report as spam. Not sure what happens when you do report as spam (maybe nothing) but don't call back giving them verification that the number belongs to a person. You'll find yourself inundated with follow-ups...... Nigerian Prince, lotto win, inheritance, gold, ATO, Centrelink, the police etc etc

Obviously a scam, but disconcerting as well. Using fear to get what they want...Bullies!

Another automated scam call from the "taxation office".

Yesterday, I got a call from a NSW number (02) 6359 7495 and did answer. It started a scam recording about the ATO, so I hung up. Then today, I got a call from the number in this post, which I did not answer as my phone identified it as spam. I agree these numbers need to be tracked and shut down. My phone company is obviously tagging the numbers as known spam, surely the government can take action. Why isn't that happening?

authentic; complete with an Aussie accent informing me they were from the ATO etc . Heard it all before so I swiftly hung up on them.

Yes scam. The ATO doesn't ring you to threaten you with arrest, all formal proceeding are done in writing.

These calls are coming from overseas, using technology to make them look like they are coming from inside Australia. Because they are overseas there isn't anything the Govt can do.
