dubious call from ebay to call back, block that number!

telling me an order had been placed on ebay for $299 and this was going to be deducted from my credit card. No order was placed by me but he said he could help me delete the order by giving him my details. I told him it was a scam and I would report it and he immediately hung up.

I got a call from this number and they hung up immediately when I answered without saying anything. My guess is that the robo-caller will only leave voicemails and is programmed to hang up if answered.

Caller: (08) 6146 1890

Mobile rang. Computer generated voice started talking about $199.99 being about to be debited from my account to pay for an eBay gift token. I hung up. My number is on the Do Not Call register.

Caller: someone claiming to be ebay

This number called a not-for-profit childcare centre, I missed the call and called back. There was a recording with no business name or information, followed by speaking to someone claiming to be from eBay and asking personal details for 'verification'. Obviously, this number is not associated with anything I may or may not do on eBay. Instead of answering their questions I asked why they would be contacting a business that has never purchased anything from eBay, the man said perhaps I received the call by mistake and wished me a good day before hanging up.

Obviously don't give information to these people!

just had same call today for exact same thing. I dont even have an ebay account. He even said I could google the number to confirm it is legit and I found this.

Caller: Nuisance call.

Hung up straight away. The second such call within 10 minutes, the other from a mobile.

Left a message on the mobile about $199.99 being debited from my account. I called back and obviously reached a call centre but when I asked who I was talking to they didn't respond.

This appears to be a scam robot caller suggesting that I purchased something from Ebay and that I should press 1 to talk to a representative to cancel the purchase.

Then it hangs up.
(I wish the telco industry could do something about these fraudulent calls, but why would they.... they earn revenue from the scams so it is not in their interests to police the telecommunications acts)

A private call yesterday and this number today both saying money will be debited from my account and wanting me to call back urgently at 6pm

Caller: Automated claimed to be ebay.

Automated call. It told me a purchase for $299 was made on ebay and will be charged to my account. It instructed me If I didn't make the purchase to call 613?????? I didn't catch the rest of the number. I rang back the number that called me, I got recorded message, your call is important....Then music, then a woman(?) answered, There was a lot of people noise in the back ground like it was a very large crowded room or mall or hall. I told her I got a call from that number about ebay. She gave a wierd sigh, said, no, and hung up. I assume my call was routed to some poor unsuspecting person and it was likely not the first time she had gotten a call from someone about this.
