I called back number (08) 6144 6291 reached IVR for a company called The Advertiser.

Number called, no message left. Assuming it is a scammer or wanting a donation. I don’t donate to any charity over the phone. If you want me to call you back please leave a message. It’s not a complicated thing to do.

Caller: Garvan Institute

Called back and received a voice mail, saying it was from the Garvan Institute, wanting to tell me about their wonderful research and they will they and call me again.

Can't be the Advertiser it's a Perth number

Called almost every morning for last week. No message.

I received a call yesterday which I did not answer, and no message was left. They rang again today and I took the call. A man with a heavy Indian accent said he was calling from the Advertiser (he was called Said I think it was), mentioning my name, and quoted my email address. I asked him how he got this information, as I never give it out. He claimed I entered a competition which I denied saying I don't do that for this very reason, as I don't like being hassled by call centres. I pressed him for more details about where he got my information and he said someone else must have entered the competition and put my details down. I called bullsh*t, as my partner or children, or anyone I know would not do that. He then asked me how often do I read the Advertiser or Sunday Mail, to which I said never. I asked him to take my details off their list, and hung up. So I gather that the purpose of the call was to conduct a survey. Harmless enough maybe, but I am intrigued as to where they got my details.
