I did not answer it and they did not leave a message. It came up as originating from Kalgoorlie, West Australia. It is obviously a scam.

Just another annoying scammer pretending to be Telstra. Offshore caller utilising a local (WA) landline number. These redirection calls from outside Australia should be banned. Noting the news media that over $2B has been lost by Aussies in the last year to scammers.

Advised my Nbn was playing up, yawned and wasn't professional. Indian sounding, I asked to speak with supervisor and hung up on me. Tried to call back, number not valid. Definitely a scam

Random calls from unrecognised landline numbers tend to be scammers and my usual test just in case they're not and the call could be something important, is to pickup and be totally silent. Real people are confused by this and try to check if anyone is there and say "hello" or something.

Scam calls tend to automated and they seem to have some kind of a check in place where their system listens for a voice answering their call. I'm not sure why they do this when they're just going to play a recording anyway and hence can't really waste their time so much if it played to no one, but for whatever reason they think that's important because if you start the call with a greeting, the scam recording then plays, but if however you're totally silent, they just hang up which is a very strong indicator this was not a call you would have wanted to take since that's just not normal behaviour for an actual human being calling you.

This number followed that pattern, I said nothing for around 6 seconds, and they hung up. The technique doesn't work if the scammers are actually real people trying to scam you instead of an automated system but at least it filters a big portion of the scam calls you might get since that's the lowest effort approach for scammers and hence a large proportion of the scam calls that are made.

Caller: An indian sounding person / scumbag

Asked me about my NBN, having problems in last few days.....like I am that stupid, my company I buy the NBN service off would call me and I have had no issues. I feel sorry for the people who actually fall for this scam....
Australian Government needs to stop these asswipes / indians using Australian numbers to scam innocent people. E.g. Not allowing Aus numbers to be used so easily like this / educating people through Media and commercials - I am over it, time to scam the scammers!!!
