It was a recorded message claiming to be from the Australian Federal Police and telling me the Australian Taxation Office had commenced legal action against me, and asking me to phone a particular number

Telling me I was going to be arrested, gave me a case number and told me to call this number. I called the number because I wanted to tear in to this scum bag but the call never connected.

This is a Voice over Internet Protocol number and the VoIP provider is www.symbionetworks.com and you can check for a numbers VoIP provider here https://www.thenumberingsystem.com.au/#/number-register/search . I suggest we all call Symbio Networks each time we get a scam call from one of their VoIP customers and then maybe Symbio Networks will do something. Symbio Networks number is 1300 789 653. You must realize that Symbio Networks gets paid by the scammers that use their service and this is the reason Symbio Networks appear to be providing a safe haven to scammers.

Same as above. Does not sound legitimate but many could be suckered in panic. Laughed at the claim about being “served”. No court in Australia initiates service by phone!

Another one purporting to be the ATO - "There has been a complaint...and there s a warrant for your arrest". Sounded like an automated robotic male voice.
