Fake number, can hear the connecting call beep through the exchange to India. The said they have a very important credit matter to discuss with me. Asked for my home address, date of birth, licence number of which I gave none. I warned them that my number is on the do not call register and also that spoofing a Gold Coast number from abroad is illegal. As soon as I told them I was recording the phone call they hung up. Morons.

Years ago I worked as a telemarketer, I cam tell you paying for a private number means nothing. Each day I was given a full list consisting of Surname, initial address phone number then starred if private (usually private numbers are paged separately) but all information incl private full phone numbers are recorded. It is at the discretion of the telemarketer as to whether they ring the private numbers......basically what I'm saying Is paying to have your number private to stop these types of calls is the MOTHER OF ALL SCAMS, ITS THE OLDEST SCAM, AND MOST CONTINUAL SCAM, please stop paying for this service. Like in the 70s, invest in a good quality whistle and blow that sucker hard into your mouth piece when ever you receive a non desired call.

This is Credit Corp - debt collection agency attempting to recover money by blowing out the phones of third parties that may or may not know the subject of the alledged debt.

They attempt to call parents, siblings, cousins, neighbours, work colleagues, anyone even remotely associated with the subject or their lives in the hope they can get to them. What they do is illegal, and they can safely be ignored.

When a bad debt is passed onto a debt collector, the agency purchases the debt for 10 to 20 cents in the dollar and then attempt to collect the FULL amount from the original borrower (plus interest).

However, what most people are unaware of is that once the debt has been purchased by a third party (in this case Credit Corp), the debt has been expunged for the original borrower, and that is the end of the matter. The only signature from the borrower is on a contract between the bank/credit provider and the borrower. There is no signed contract between a debt collector and the original borrower.

Therefore, do not admit or agree to anything a debt collector says on the phone, as they will attempt to trick you into entering into a contract with them (if you're the original borrower they are after) and try to get you on a 'payment plan'.

The statute of limitations means they can only chase you for a maximum of five years, but if you admit to anything or enter into agreement with them (even verbally), then that resets and you can be harangued another five years or until you've satisfied the needs of these vultures.

Your best bet is to avoid them like the plague, legally they have no clout. All they have is intimidation tactics on the phone. Weak!
They are legally only allowed to call 3 times a week or 12 in a month, but that is IF YOU ANSWER. so answer the call & just hang up & they won't be able to call again.

these people keep calling from supposedly gold coast. called them back, woman said number of companies at that number...said she transfer my call and hung up. why do i pay for a private number!!

This is credit corp scamming you. Put there number on Craig’s list with the cheapest ticket for whatever and see how they like being spammed!

Block this phone number from Credit Corp and report Credit Corp to the ACCC Scamwatch and AFCA.

Tried to con me into a payment plan for a loan I never took out.

Told them I was from the Government and was tracing the call and they hung up.

Told me I have an outstanding debt with Optus. I don't.
I had recently been to the area the phone call was from. Confirmed my identity before she said where she was from, whoops! Hung up shortly thereafter.

Asked which company? They are no allow to tell me
