Someone genuinely asking for donations would actually bother sticking around for people's calls, and not hang up when they answer.
Also, it's not a good practice to be pushy, or to try and guilt trip people, or to heavily pick on people that have said they can't afford it. That's the mark of a scammer that doesn't give two craps about anyone. It's hardly respectful.

Personally, I will never give out money to ANYONE over the phone, unless I know exactly who I am dealing with, like a buisness I am buying a product from.

The Do Not Call Register SHOULD block charities if the person wants it. It's MY phone, that's in MY house, and I should get a say on who gets to disturb my peace.
The phones are too open to scammers, like this number, and there's no way to see their identification otherwise.

I accept that the rural fire service do an amazing job. BUT, I never give any money to anybody over the phone - ever. Also why the harrassing phone calls? It makes me less interested in giving when you harrass. Calling and hanging up before I can answer the phone - two rings is B.S. Is also a good way to get listed in my phone as Call Centre, or Spammer.

You are asking me for a donation, be considerate that you are inteerupting my day, I may have just crawled out from under a machine to answer your call, I may need to wipe grease from my hands to answer the call - Don't be rude and hang up after 2 rings. If you call and hang up, it is a waste of my time - that will make me very unhappy, you will get nowhere. I don't call back either, that wastes more of my time and money on a phone call I did not need.

I used to give money to worthy causes that rang.
I don't know if these people have a "soft touch" list that they hand around, but suddenly my phone was ringing all the time. I give nothing over the phone any more. I wish everyone would do the same. Then we might get some peace.

We are NOT scammers, we are a legitimate fund raiser for Queensland Rural fire brigades and their volunteers. Please treat us kindly, the reason for the pause is that our calls are on a automatic dialer system and that is out of our control, but we raise funds for ALL brigades across Queensland, so if anyone wants to donate to their local Brigade we can pass on 100% of your donation to them and provide you with a tax deductable receipt. But the Art Union is a lottery and our organisation complies to all government regulations, and art unions are not tax deductable. Our call centre is based in Gympie.

Businesses cannot be on do not call register.......they should NOT hang up as soon as we say our business name.....it is just down right rude. Pretty sure they wouldn't like it happening to them. Yes, they may be a charity, but there is no need for rudeness. So Bob, you can rant all you like, it is not doing them any favours for their charity. As a business owner, it is not the way to get ppl to want to donate, or indeed, help out in any way.

Call Centre asking for donations to a rural fire brigade. Usually on my mobile so it is now on the reject list.

These people might have a valid reason for ringing but I don't see a valid reason for calling me on both my home phone and mobile. That is pushing the boundaries towards harassment.

just had a call from this number hung up before i could say hello - i am on the do not call register too but they always seem to say they are not selling anything so they are ok to call much like the door knockers but they are still after money and I am not going to give my cc details to anyone over the phone unless i have called them and know who i am speaking too.

Dont care who they are - dont ring if you are going to hang up when I answer.

Someone from this number left a message on my answering machine about a taxi driver and a mobile phone. No idea what it was about.

Answered phone and they had hung up. Most irritating as I had to interrupt something I was doing to answer the call.

Yes i have the same problem. have told them over and over that i can't afford it and continually ask for my credit card number. if i hang up, they then call back a couple of days later!!

this number is for a buisness in soth east for the caller is paid to work there an=bout 25 dollars an hr. from your ticket sale if you pay by ccard the caller gets acommission then all cost are taken out of your ticket sale . ie rent wages of staff and prises.. even coffee for employees you would be lucky if $1 actually wnt to the RFB at all.. all charities are the same . You actually dont think that people vonunteer there time to call you..

Rural Fire Brigade. They suggested they send out an order form for tickets. I said yes, and I will decide what tickets I want. He really pushed for the $30 for 10 tickets but I said no. I never have a problem donating to this, maybe one day I might need them
