My very elderly father received a P/c yesterday from (07) 3521 3095 claiming to be from the Commonwealth Bank, calling him to discuss suspicious transactions on his account including a $300 Amazon Transaction, and a $499 EBay transfer and attempting to get him to phone the “commonwealth bank” to confirm they were legitimate. Dad couldn’t follow their instructions as he has dementia, and isn’t on the internet banking system. He was upset and anxious by the call. I confirmed yesterday afternoon at his Branch the Bank had not tried to contact him. DEFINITELY A SCAM!!!

Stating that my Woolworths Credit Card ending in XXXX had been used for transactions including ebay for certain amounts. Told him I would call him back via Woolworths Contact Numbers only to find out that no one had called me however unauthorised transactions have since been attempted. They were obviously trying to alert me to these amounts so that I was under the belief that they were already being investigated.

SCAM!!! Recorded message claiming to be from Amazon Prime advising that my amazon prime account would be renewed for $99.95 and to press 1 to speak to customer service if I wanted to cancel it. I pressed 1 - the call was answered by a woman with an Indian accent. I explained I don't have an Amazon account and had never been charged and she went on to say that's the reason for the phone call because you have been charged and you don't know about it - I hung up.

Patricia (with heavy accent) from Melbourne head office, to say a purchase had been made on the internet for $300 at 4am, I told her I did not have a credit card and did not purchase things on the internet, knew my surname. Would not take no for an answer, so eventually hung up and check here!!!!

Purported to be from Telstra and asked if there were any flashing lights on my modem. I said there were none and he politely said I could hang-up.
Immediately rang back and call could not be connected.

Don't waste your time or breath.

Likely scam, as others have mentioned. No introduction when I answered. After about 5 seconds silence, a voice said "it's expensive," and hung up!

Indian woman on phone stating she was from my bank. She knew my full name. Stated she was notifying me of unauthorized activity on my card, for a transaction of $800 in the USA.
Asked if I made this transaction, which I hadn't. Then asked if I wished to put this transaction on hold and cancel it. I said 'How can I cancel a transaction that i din't make?". She continued asking if I wanted to to cancel the transaction. Following on, this woman asked if I use my card on Amazon and eBay as well as in the shops. I did not confirm this.
I was then transferred to the 'head of security" a man who said his name was Michael Matthews (Heavy indian accent). He gave me a 'badge number'" a call reference number and a number to call back on 13221. From there I was asked to sign into google or safari on my mobile.....needless to say I did not proceed with the call. This was a pretty clever attempt at a scam. BEWARE!!

A woman with an Indian accent said she was calling from Visa and Mastercard about transactions - when I asked her to repeat it several times as her accent was so incredibly difficult to understand, she said "you need to go and learn English so you can understand" then hung up.....hilarious considering English is not her first language and is mine. When I call back it is an engaged signal
