Claimed to be Visa/Mastercard reporting a suspicious transaction on my card. Pressing 1 gets you put through to a call centre where they have Indian accents.
Typical scam.

Caller knew my first name, and said he wanted to confirm a credit card payment for an iPhone.
In case he was genuine (about one chance in a billion!), I politely wished him a nice day, and ended the call. 06/08/2024

Wanted to confirm a $128 transaction on my PayPal account. I informed him (man with an Indian accent, calling from a very noisy call centre) that I did not have a PayPal account. He continued going on about whether if I have given information to any friend or relative, I said no. He insisted I had an account and also insisted on confirming the transaction, I patiently repeated that I did not have a PayPal account, he hung up in frustration.

Caller with an Indian accent stated that they were from PayPal and started asking me if I have an Apple or Android as I had "been hacked". They then called back on a second number. Do not answer these calls.

Claimed to be from PayPal to give me instructions on how to cancel a payment that might be fraud. First question was do I have an iphone or android, they said the payment was this morning $7.. didn't question if I had made the payment. I asked what they needed from me and what they would be instructing me to do, he got very frustrated & said to assist me with the cancellation. hung up.
