Caller: Supposed to be Shannon’s

Woman supposedly from Shannon’s wanted to verify my personal details regarding a recent matter I had with insurance company. I asked her what location she was ringing from and she replied India. Told her I’ll not given this information over phone. I hung up on her.

Caller: F***NG Insurance Scammers

Scam-Scam-don't answer and don't give your details- the callers are professional scammers. A man with an accent genuine or fake(actor) rings late in evening or on weekends and claims to be a Suncopr staffer. Suncorp is always closed when he rings.
He gives a false that is bogus, fake insurance policy I have to call him back about. The number he gives is out service.
He spams me by ringing my phone without consent and tries to scam me for my identity. I reports him to Commonwealth Government Federal Police Scam Team online and blacklists his number. Bloody harassing scammer-probably a sacked insurance staffer with mental health issues!

Caller: A man from Suncorp

I keep getting phone calls from this number Mon-Friday after 7pm and Saturday afternoon and Sundays.
A man with an accent (real or adopted) wants me to ring him back about my insurance policy with Suncorp.
This supposed suncorp staffer is dead keen to verify my policy details. He is way out of luck. I don't do business with Suncorp and have no policy with Suncorp. So I am never falling for this scam and ringing him back. I blocked/blacklisted the number on my smart phone. I reported the time wasting moron to Commonwealth Government ACCC Scam team and demanded they investigate and fine him.
I am sick of this man making unsolicited calls about a bogus policy complete with reference numbers that I have never had or will have.

Caller: AAMI

Very suspicious. I answered the phone. A woman with Indian accent said she was from AAMI and told me the phone was to be recorded, and then asked me to confirm my details. I stopped her and told her until she let me know what the call was regarding, I wouldn't release my personal information. I was insured with AAMI, but 10 years ago. I recently lodged a claim to QBE online and was awaiting phone call. So I double check with her if she was from AAMI, the insurance company. She said, yes. I said, I have nothing to do with AAMI. 3 seconds of silence... she said, oh, I'm after someone by the name of... another 2 seconds of silence, Anthony Kelly. Well, do I sound like Anthony? or she just needed to make up a name on the spot?

Caller: Suncorp Insurance Call Centre in Manilla

I had a call from this number - after checking here, obviously didn't answer ;)
But an Asian gentleman left me a message regarding my (legitimate) Suncorp insurance claim. He quoted my claim number and asked me to call back on the (legitimate) 13 25 24 number. I told the lady at Suncorp about all of the comments on this number and she said this is a call centre in Manilla. So quite possibly there are many different reasons for calls from this number...

A few months ago I did ring GIO regarding a claim which ended up being cheaper to fix rather than pay the excess.
I received a missed call from the number and an email to follow up with the claim. It seems legit to me

i had an unsolicited call today to my mobile with no caller ID, my phone went to messagebank and he left a message as if the call had been answered and he introduced himself, its peter from shannons insurance, is that Mr XXXX?.... when he got no reply he repeated this again.... it sounded a bit suss as Shannons have never rung me before, he didnt leave a number and as there was no Caller ID i couldn't redial his number. Can anyone there shed any light on this? I wondered if it was a scam of some kind? Identity theft??

I'm always suspicious when I get a call from someone asking me to confirm my identity with them. I had ten minute conversation about identity security with the caller, and requested he send me an email from a GIO email address (without telling him what my email address was) while I was on the phone in order to confirm HIS identity. He couldn't do that while I was on the phone for some reason, but we was able to send me an official email about five minutes after ending the call. The email he sent included my open claim number, was from a legitimate GIO email address, and included the ABN for AAI Limited which is located in Queensland where the call originated from. AAI is the parent company for GIO and a lot of other insurance companies (for the full list, see: http://www.abr.business.gov.au/SearchByAbn.aspx?SearchText=48005297807). As far as I can tell this is a legitimate number for AAI. I just don't understand why they can't update their policy so that their calling practices don't seem so shady - clearly I'm not the only one questioning the authenticity of one of these calls.
