I get calls from this number every day, up to 3 a day. If you ring the number back it goes to a mail box which is full. So annoying to keep answering the phone and tge caller on the other end hangs up as soon as you say hello.

Nice lady with a bit of an accent.
Told me she was ringing on behalf of a charity.
I told that I was 90 years old (what I am), that I receive the age pension and because that is not really enough to have much luxury, she hang up.
Could not even ask what charity she was ringing for!

Yup ... this is the number that keeps calling and it then hangs up when you pick it up. My take on it is that they are trying to determine if you are home at the time when the call is made. This info is then passed on to telemarketers to contact you at those times.
I was about to make a formal complaint about the number but then realised that the number is more than likely being spoofed. It is probably a legit number of some innocent person, but scammers are using that number from wherever it is that they are calling from ... India? It is very easy to fake the number being called from. Some scammers are too lazy to search out and use an Australian phone number and will just enter random numbers lik 00011187363 - you can easily tell that these numbers are not legit calls. However, in this case, they have made the effor to use an Aussie number to display (looks more legit to the person being called).
I did call the queensland number back and got the 'mailbox is full' message - likely that many people have called the number and left abusive messages. But give the poor owner of the number a break - it's not likely that they are the ones making the call (it's not something aussies will do) but have had their number spoofed. If you do a google search, there is a genuine story out there of a business that has suffered immensely because their number was used by a scammer. All you need to do is write down the number and place it next to the phone so you recognise not to pick up the phone.
On another note, here are some things you could do when there is a scammer on the other end:
1. Say "Hang on, I'll get him/her for you" when they ask to speak to Mr(s) so and so (even the person is you) - then leave the phone on the table for a minute or so. They will eventually hang up but it wastes their time.
2. Flirt with the person - like real dirty flirting. Practice being a phone sex worker LOL
3. Play loud music into the phone - place the phone down next to a music speaker and turn the volume up to window rattling level.
4. It is easy to recognise fake numbers - and simply don't pick up the phone.

This number should be cancelled, their persistent calling and subsequent hangup proves that they are scammers trying to operate against the law.

Be careful how you answer. Do not say yes at any stage, as they will cut and paste it to some sort of scam which will rob you of your identity an your $$$'s.
