I rang this number to find out who it was and why they were calling my mother on her mobile. Person with a strong accent claimed there was unusual activity on her ebay account totalling $249 - when I explained she doesn't have an Ebay account, they hang up on me.

Caller: (07) 3040 1887 - ebay recorded message scam

total scam - robot voice message

claiming to be from e-bay (however certainly not e-bay) and left a message on voicemail saying you are to be charged for an eBay purchase for $249.99 and if this was unauthorized to call them back etc.

a total scam and interestingly others on this site have reported the same call detailing the exact same amount of money $249.99 what a coincidence

Don't waste your time with these clowns

Hi everyone, my mum fell for this scam - they took $750 and her license number. As it has been said above don't participate in their nonsense. My mum have very severe anxiety and isn't able to think very logically when put into a situation, even receiving reassurance from the scammer who called, she followed every step until they had everything and hung up on her.

Foreign voice saying they're from eBay, and that $249.99 will be automatically debited from my card, then says to press 1 to cancel order. Led me through speaker phone to install app to take control of my device. Alarm bells, hung up.
Had my mobile no but probably random.

today the automated call caught me when I was busy and i didn't hear everything except Ebay $299.10? purchase, so i stayed on line (push any key) and I was told that a $250 ebay gift voucher was attempted on my card, did I authorise it. No I didn't. I was told that the only way to cancel it, as someone had access to my card was to go onto speaker phone so I could listen to his instruction to download.....Go to Play Store, type in search bar, quicksupport, the option he told me wasn't there so i was instructed to read them out and he then after being told several times by me that the option wasn't there to click on quick support by team viewer and then install. I told him to email or text me the cancellation form instead as I wasn't comfortable doing that. He said no that was the only way and i told him that i was going to hang up, no no mam this is the only way if you don't want to be contacted about it again. I told him if i don't approve the transaction then fraud will get involved and hung up
