I don't mind the collectors trying to find the people who owe but why keep calling the people like me who have nothing to do with it, it really is annoying. To the people who say 'pay your debts and you have nothing to worry about', think again, I don't owe anything but I'm still harassed.

Yeah Debt collectors, called my number twice this morning to find someone else in my neighbourhood with the same surname. Simply this is harassment of someone who has never dealt with this company and has no outstanding debts with any organisation. Looked them up & they have a local office SO get of your lazy annoying backsides and follow up yourselves if this is how you make your money. Do not harass me to do your dirty work.

yea situation change why not do the decent thing by all and just be cooperative with us then we wouldn't have to ring third parties. people are quick to go get a loan and spend the money but then when its time to pay up they be running and hiding rather then calling us up and explaining their situation maybe we could help. people on this page think they know it all but really you don't. i love working at lion is a job it pays me and my families rent and food. i would rather work for my money then sit on your ass and do nothing but collect other peoples tax. grow up and get a life.

Will you people never let up trying to convince everyone you are the good guys. Any web search will bring up numerous complaints about Lion Finance, Collection House, your lawyers and all the dirty tricks and lies you tell. You are not honest or ethical or anything other than nasty little bottom dwellers. No matter what someone tells you or proves to you, you still try to collect debts even when they are statute barred, have been settled previously or are plain non-existent. You use every dirty tactic you can, particularly when you know the person on the other end does not know their rights or you can sense you will wear them down even if they don't owe you the money.

Even when people make arrangements, you don't give up. I would never deal with your company even if I owed you money - I would wait until I could offer a full settlement and then everything would be in writing - never believe you guys as you are also known for trying to collect debts twice.

Most people do know the consequences of their actions, they don't forget about it, they just don't want to deal with arseholes like you, until they can deal with you on an even playing field.

Lets be honest ...

I work for Lion Finance, the issue I find primarily most is that when we call people they don't answer so we have to keep calling them until someone actually answers the phone, most of the time the banks don't always provide up-to-date or accurate information so it leads us to use other search mechanisms to trace people to get in contact with them in relation to their personal debts.

With any business you'll find that ethical procedures are put in to effect, though not all collectors abide by the book, it isn't the businesses fault it comes down to that particular individual who will be dealt with accordingly once a complaint is made.

Take note though, we are allowed to contact neighbours, third-parties, or realistically anyone that can assist us in getting in contact with those who need to be reached, we cannot advise of where we are calling from due to customer privacy, and we cannot use facebook to locate people - people who say we do haven't worked in Lion Finance to know it, the business is very strict.

Sometimes it depends on the person you get on the phone to how they assist you, the business ideologies change a lot and you will find different procedures come to effect quite often as the business works around customer complaints and ACCC dealings, understand that we can't restrict you for an arrangement, you're welcome to have one but a lot of the time people won't provide any information that is required to put them on to one, everyone is happy to give as much information to a bank to attain finance though when they decide it's time to default they won't provide anything so you have to understand from a collectors point as to why it is so difficult at times when people play hard to get.

Hardship is a tough one, look at times I've no choice I need to refer people for litigation and it's the last thing I want but honestly a lot of people don't understand the consequences and simply think it will pass over like their debt did with their lender - lenders diarise dates out up to 30 days before next contact and then sell debts after 180 days or so after non-payment, bear this in mind that you get it easy with the bank but once it hits the debt floor to companies like Lion, we start to put the pressure on people to actually do something about their debts but many think, nope won't do that and just push it to the side and try and forget about it and then it catches up with them later.

We don't want to litigate people at the end of the day though people just have that attitude of I don't care and simply ask for it.

If you don't want debt collectors calling you, DON'T GET FINANCE, it is pretty simple, will save you a headache and potential legal proceedings - I have seen some pretty old accounts back in the hay days being pulled up for legal proceedings and this can be done 6+ months before the statue of limitation date so be weary I suppose.

Rang me just then looking for a woman with a different name but the same last name. I told her I didn't know a woman by that name (the truth). When I asked why she said it was a 'private business matter'. When I asked her how she got my number she said it was through "google" and publicly listed. Weird.

Former Debt Collector....

There are actually loopholes here. They can contact your neighbours and such but cannot ask them to put you on the phone. That is illegal. They cannot tell you that they will repossess your posessions. This will only happen at the court's discretion if they can actually manage to serve you with a summons before the 6 year time limit expires.

More on the 6 year time limit... If you do not pay a debt for 6 years, and they cannot take you to court due to an inability to serve, or falling under the minimum $$ criteria of roughly 5k, your debt to them is beyond the statutory limit and they can no longer chase it. It gets erased from your credit file and is though it no longer exists.

As for bankruptcy, It does last up to 10 years. However, you can most certainly become the director of a company after the bankruptcy period. You may also take out loans after the period. You will just find it harder to be given one. You do lose all your assets and 50c in the dollar over the minimum threshold for the bankruptcy period.

Just got a check up call from these guys today, looks like they scout by asking about an employee.
A person named JOE called about a person named Kerry who would be working for the company, though we had no such person and they went on to ask if we were, in fact, that company. So it looks like I messed up by not running caller ID through here first.

Lion Finance have no lawful right to collect money for debt collection. Its quite simple really as per the Bills Of Exchange Act 1909 they do not have a contract with any person they are unlawfully harassing. Everybody is starting to realise this!

Good on you. The people writing the bullsh*t are Lion employees who obviously monitor this and other websites to see what is happening. They try to scare people into thinking that if they don't pay up with Lion and other creditors, their life is ruined forever, which is absolute trash. These bottom dwellers need to get a real job and stop making people's lives even worse.

One day Karma will bite them big time and we can all have a good laugh on them.

This Lion Finance or another name for the The Collection House, Also use Panthera Finance company. Uses many names Cybil of Collection Agency's They use a redial service which ring 10 times hangs up when answered, night or day, sometimes twice a day, they also text from multiple mobile numbers daily they also provide little paper work or information. If this happens report them to the ACCC and lodge a complaint re Unethical behaviour and harassment and over zealous tactics re contacting. The more the complain the sooner they will be stopped. Go forth and conquer pro active is the way to go
Cheers and don't hesitate, check out the Consumer Watchdog and ACCC and talk to Local Politicians it's time.
