Caller: The Grinch.

Like all good vultures, these people stung me with a debt I didn't even know I had. I ran from a bad relationship to a different state, told vodaphone to cancel my service and went into hidding. Well apparently Vodaphone didn't, and then sold my debt that I didn't know bloody existed to some a**hole that calls me 5 years later. Since I am doing better and like most, if I can pay back any money I owe, I will do so. Well, for 3 months every fortnight the money was in my account, no issues, but it did seem strange that my debt didn't seem to be decreasing despite the fact that my debt was only $600 to start with. Regardless, I continued to pay... and then Christmas happened. My payday fell on Christmas, so it was moved. I realised this and TRIED to call them. However, the number that correlates with the texts I have from them 'Isn't connected." And everytime I tried to google their page I just got redirected to a stupid phoneline that basically said that the 'unnamed' office was closed for the Holidays!
. Christmas came, the money hadn't landed but they still tried to take money out of my account on Christmas. When I got paid I try again to call these elusive Lions. Well apparently I needn't have bothered. Two days after christmas I get a rather unpleasant phonecall telling me to put the money in my account and do it NOW! And that I was being charged DOUBLE to make up for the payment that was only two days late.. When I tried to explain not only was I yelled at, but I was called a liar and had my intelligence belittled when I tried in vain to explain that I HAD tried to call. Several times. And I had proof. Not only that, but I had logged into the portal in a desperate attempt to let them know my payment would be late, only to be strong armed around a site that told me NOTHING except what I still owed, which MAGICALLY showed as only 100$ less then when I started. AND When I told him that, not only did he deny that it showed on his 'server' that I had logged in, but I was an illiterate retard that couldn't read because on HIS END it read that I only owed 150$ and that I was mistaken. Confused, alarmed that I had just been insulted and yelled at, I broke down crying, gave my details so he could take the money and he hung up mumbling about how I was a dumb bitch and thinking I couldn't hear him.

Now I understand that these people probably have a lot of people dodging them, and from my brief encounters I can understand why. But understand that from their first message about my debt, I have been nothing but apologetic that they had to struggle to find me, and willing to pay them back as quickly as I could . Apart from that one time on Christmas day, which was out of my bloody control, I had never been late, I had never yelled at them or been disrespectful in anyway and was doing my best to cooperate with them however I could. Because no one likes being in debt. Well, guess what, after they took that $100 I should only have owed 50$ which I tried to pay off all at once, by the way, only to be told I couldn't because I would 'disturb' their accounts or some nonsense. I sit here writing this at 4Am on the 12/1/2020 and looking at my phone not only that they take $150 despite arguing that I couldn't pay off my debt prematurely, but on the 6th yet another 50$ dollars came out of my account.

As a reasonable adult, once I noticed this error, I rang back the number that had called me to abuse me and guess what, my numbers been blocked. So I used my spare phone and what do you know, got through. The second I said who I was, I got transfered to three different bloody people before the line went dead and then than that phone number was also blocked. Well.... Now I was on a mission. I bought seve 5 dollar sims from Woolies and called the number on each of them with the exact result every time.
Now I COULD change my bank card and dispute the last charge, to little affect. But honestly, after the woeful experience I've had, a small, petty side of me wants to know how much they'll try to milk about of me before I change my card details. I want to know how much of money they'll try to steal, because I have a feeling I know what the answer is. They won't stop, providing I don't cancel my card and get a new one, I don't think they actually will stop billing me for a debt that is paid off. So, if you are reading this Elusive Lion, just know I'm keeping track of the money. You may have gotten your 600$ that probably cost you 39 cents, but I wonder how much I'll get from you.

Harassed by them for almost 10 years for nothing

Hey Moron.. you obviously own a share in ruining peoples lives...Lion and every other debt collector in Australia should go find themselves a high integrity occupation instead of harassing people. They dont do things legally and most of the time, they do not have the original contract so they have no real claim. T the owners of the debt collectors are scum trying to make an easy buck. I am sorry for everyone who has to lower themselves as part of their job to help SCUM get rich of the vulnerable. Australia is a caring society. But not the way these scum bags harass. Most people are in debt due to BIG BANK profiteering anyway. How many times have banks ripped of people and haven't had any recourse ?????????
Dont answer , don't commit to anything these people say. Get a lawyer and fight them. "Ex Lion Finance" has told the whole truth about these bastards.

I can smell a rat amongst some of you who may well be a mole for Lion Finance... Well, go and get stuffed. Your tactics are pretty low. You break every rule in the book to get what you want... and you call people whom have nothing to do with this.

To Moron.
Know and understand the law you halfwit. Mouthing off about things you obviously know little about, helps no one. Stop trying to scare people into paying you vultures.
Phone, electricity debts bought by you retards at a few cents in the dollar is your problem and this is why you use these unethical tactics. It’s not legal and people have every right to tell you to screw yourself. Most of these debts you chase are non existent, in dispute or already paid. You are the suckers paying money to large corporations for non existent debt. Whose the real moron paying money for fairy tales. Idiot.

Don't answer - they CANNOT take your possessions - only the Sherrif with a court order can & LION ONLY THREATEN THIS _ THEY DO NOT DO IT.

Lion DO harass through Facebook - (they had an ugly turd of an employee called Troy who did it a couple of years back & went through FB accounts contact peoples friends, via email, message and phone....the ugly bogan from Queensland should learn to lock his & his families FB down before harassing others, just saying coz you get what you give).
If Lion are calling you, Get some advice from a financial counselor - DO NOT ADMIT TO LION THAT YOU HAVE A DEBT - DON'T EVEN TALK TO THEM! - see a financial counselor - you may NOT need to pay - check if it is a Statute barred debt BUT, The key is DONT TALK TO LION, DO NOT ADMIT YOU HAVE THE DEBT & DO NOT AGREE PAY ANYTHING - EITHER VERBALLY OR IN WRITING!!! - until you check with a financial counselor whether the debt is a statute barred debt - it might be worth waiting it out until the debt becomes statute barred BUT - YOU MUST NOT PAY, OR ADMIT YOU HAVE THE DEBT - SEEK ADVICE ON STATUTE BARRED DEBTS! Debt collectors CANNOT LEGALLY PURSUE STATUTE BARRED DEBT & MANY of the debts that LION buy are really close in time frames to becoming Statue barred....so for gods sake people DO NOT TALK TO THEM UNTIL YOU CHECK THIS OUT!!!

Seriously??? Even unprofessional in your private life, its a freaking job not your personal life. I cant believe you come online to call people names and get all offended like they ran your dog over.
Best you learn some manners at work and in your private life.
How dare you make an assumption that these people are unemployed and seriously other than sounding like your part of the Hill Song brain washed crew your current employment is less important than a toilet cleaner, so best you get you head out your arse bro and stop embarrassing yourself publicly

my understanding is the companies such as Lion Finance buy the debt. Let's say you have a debt with Telstra. You owe Telstra the debt. Lion Finance buys that debt and your debt with Telstra is now paid off. Lion Finance has taken the chance/risk to pay off your debt, hoping they can get you to pay it off. You do not actually owe Lion Finance and now don't owe Telstra either.

how does this sound ?

They have a program that if the look up an address it will give them a phone number. The probably have a Lands Title map and check address close to the debtor. They have probably rung neighbours eiother side and and the back street you were probably the next closest. They rang me the other day I put a note in my neighbours letter box as the said the were a bussiness finance company just in case he was seeking a loan for a business but also told him to contact the Ombudsman if the are debt collectors and complain about the.
