Caller: 0498 209 135 so l've heard of this new scam going around after the recent data breaches at Qantas and other organisations that have happened, followed by personal details being published on the dark web. Fascinating they just tried it on me. I got a call from "Telstra" following up on customer feedback - I actually did call them a couple of weeks ago because my service wasn't working so I thought it was related to that. They told me they needed to verify I'm the right person - all pretty normal - told me my email address and confirmed it a couple of times and then said they needed to SMS and I read back the code in the text. The code came from 'microsoft' not from 'telstra'. What they were trying to do was log into my email account and change my password, and to do so an sms is sent to the number associated to the account, with a code that they would need to proceed with the password change. I spent the next 3 mins saying things I could not share on here before he hung up on me. So FYI this is going around. Apparently with Uber too and a bunch of other companies, wild.
