Listed an item for sale on Gumtree. Almost immediately received a text message to email Kelly now on kellymicha80@gmail. com with a final asking price. Email only due to the nature of his work. Received the same SMS again as I was typing this. Scam.

Got a similar text from an add on gumtree. asking to email only to King if still available with my final asking price. Email address was kingstevenman79 @ gmail.com

Being scam aware I replied by email just to confirm. Received this reply:

I know it’s very hard dealing online this way due to the scam going around, but I can send you a copy of my license for you to be sure.
As regards payment, I can easily make a deposit into your account from my PayPal into your bank or your PayPal account as My PayPal account is linked with My CommBank Card.

I'm selling Border Collies on Gumtree. Just like eveyone else received a sms asking me to 'only reply by email to kellymicha80 @ gmail.com with your final asking price'. Not happeing dude!!! Damned Scammers....

Seems to me that Gumtree don't give a rat's about security of placing adds. Just want to charge for placing adds. Also Australian Govt make so difficult to lodge a complaint. All I would like to do is forward email or txt to Scam Watch so these basted can be put away or better sill Shot. No politician gives a sh*t if you loose all your money. Banks also now don't want to be responsible for giving away you hard earned money.
Also received 3 txt's from this number at 6.24am 7.02am & 7.50am. 2 asking to email only kellymicha80 @ gmail.com & 1 to lawsonren009 @ gmail.com
Google too should be responsible to verify legit email addresses, as these have been going on for ages.
Find then and shoot then I say, they won't do it again

Wanting to buy Labradoodle. Very vague with responses never answering questions directly.

Same as all the others. I listed on Gumtree and got 3 messages . Everything was an issue with it. I told them to deposit money into my account which they said I needed to pay $200 to get it released. Checked with PayPal Pal and they said they had no knowledge of payment. The apparent customer even had a Medicare card and drivers licence they sent a photo of to me.

Received message after listing on Gumtree, apparently the Police know who this person is and are monitoring this persons everyday activities.. collecting as much data on this person as possible..their intentions is to have this person serve lengthy jail sentence to deter others....they have placed a do not travel on this person and can't travel if they try.. apparently they also have access to all bank accounts, all other numbers they are using are being monitored...they say not to worry they have that person in sight and will be shortly arrested on at least 100 charges of fraud...long jail sentence

Received the same message after listing an item on Gumtree. Exact same wording - as it came in before 6am I thought it suspect. While I was contemplating what to do I received a further three identical messages over 30 minutes or so.
