Listed an item for sale on Gumtree. Almost immediately received a text message to email Kelly now on kellymicha80@gmail. com with a final asking price. Email only due to the nature of his work. Received the same SMS again as I was typing this. Scam.

Same as others here. Posted an advert on Gumtree. So far I have had 4 responses (two from this number 0492 282 125 with identical wording but different email addresses) all saying "if your listed AD is still on Gumtree please email only"

Like most on here I placed an ad on gumtree. Received an sms "Martin Wanna know if still available. Email only with final price". I replied via email. He wanted to know my address from the get go. I said payment via payID first then address. He asked for my bank details bsb acc. No. etc. to do payID. Tild him he only needs my phone number to do that. He Got a bit agro saying I'm not here to scam you and I can only do bank transfer. I'm out if country atm only want to make my wife happy...omg what a piece of sh*t he is.. to reassure me he offered to send pics of his drivers licence and Medicare. I said ok send it. He did - the name on drivers lic. is Adam Lindsay Martin. Where do we report this??? He can't be getting away with scamming people forever. Someone needs to put a stop to this.

Got a similar text from an add on gumtree. asking to email only to King if still available with my final asking price. Email address was kingstevenman79 @ gmail.com

Quick response to an Ad I placed on Gumtree. All the text said was "Please kindly email Anthony now if your listed AD still on Gumtree at anth6oxx @ gmail.com when is the best time and date to inspect? Please email only." Such a vague response I immediately jumped on this site to check the sending number 0492 282 125. Glad I did. Will not be engaging with this person. Thanks for all the above comments.

Being scam aware I replied by email just to confirm. Received this reply:

I know it’s very hard dealing online this way due to the scam going around, but I can send you a copy of my license for you to be sure.
As regards payment, I can easily make a deposit into your account from my PayPal into your bank or your PayPal account as My PayPal account is linked with My CommBank Card.

He could only email he sent me driver licence and Medicare too I Facebook searched but couldn’t find his face on here that matched - he kept calling me mate and wanting my bsb account and said he’s out of the county and organising some one to pick up - I said don’t worry about payment and just to come pick it up - and he still wanted my bsb and said he’s can’t have it for free .

Please email only". It' a criminal ready to steal money via a scam payment.

CONFIRMED yes it is a legitimate telstra service
NO it is NOT a spoofed number
telstra refuse to act even when confronted with their offences against crimes act 1900 and telecommunications act 1997

2024 telstra was fined 1.5million dollars by ACMA
this is nowhere near enough

Telstra is disinterested in stopping this scammer
5 calls today so far and have been met with sarsacm being spoken over and straight up argumentativeness
it IS a legitimate telstra number it is NOT being spoofed
yet they fail to act AT ALL

Scammer on gumtree wants you to email him and he is called Michael

Scammer used email address kellymic2024 @ gmail.com. The scam became obvious when he pretended to send a genuine email from PayPal and asked my folks to buy an Apple or Visa card worth $300 and send him the card details, as a PayPal 'processing fee'. Hope this person dies alone and miserable.

Placed ad on gumtree. received a text message after 1hour 15minutes. Expressing interest and asking to communicate by email only.Had some rubbish story about buying for his son and was out of town fro work where phone did not work. SCAMMER.
