Caller: 0488 882 780 I got the same message. I thought it was a scam and was VERY wary of the website address, especially as it was not secured.....http:// secured is https:// However, it is a genuine SMS from Woolies. You should have got a sub note with the SMS that says "Weather Alert - We've been advised that there is a storm... etc." and same web link. If you click on THAT message it opens into a Woolies Insurance web site with lots of information. I think they are doing a bit of PR work to alert you of a pending storm, for a vehicle on their insurance system. Sending a SMS alert is infinitely cheaper for them than having to deal with multiple insurance claims....even if they send thousands of SMS messages out. It also says in the Woolies page why you are getting the message...."The Weather Alert Service is available for all Woolworths Car Insurance customers with a registered mobile number. The service tracks potentially dangerous weather systems and sends alerts via text message if you are in the path of a thunderstorm....etc". It is a win for their customers - knowing a storm is coming and maybe able to get to shelter before it hits. And a win/win for them and you not having to do a claim! As per the message you can always opt out receiving the SMS as per the instructions.

Caller: Woolworths? Over the last two weeks I've got probably a dozen SMS from "Woolworths", which are: "Hi RACHEAL, ther's severe weather near where your car is normally kept. Stay safe and for more info visit http:/bit.ly/wwca1 OPT OUT, send STOP to 0488 882 780". Does anyone know what's going on?
