He knew my name and said he was from Toowoomba Regional Council (which is my council) and then started to ask how long I had been living in the 'QLD Region'. Also said that this wasn't a sales call.

I said that he'd caught me in the middle of something and I asked if I could call him back and he hung up on me.

Not guaranteed to be a scam caller but I reckon there's about a 99% surety it's pure BS.

Caller: "Ipswich City council"

Said this wasn't a sales call and just needed 5 minutes to check some information for the council. Knew my name and my post code and asked demographics type questions that could be answered with a yes or a no - not sure what to think here. I was very non-committal and asked the purpose of the questions - said it was to confirm community demographic data. One of those calls where it's hard to tell if it's legit or a scam. I'm leaning towards the latter. If they call you, I recommend hanging up.

They left a voicemail, I listened to it and I could hear the caller doing something, making a quiet sound .
I reckon it was just another opportunist.
If the call was genuine,the caller would have left a message.
Blocking it now.

I called back number 0488 838 502 rang once then gets disconnected automatically.
