Beware of this unlisted number as it is almost certainly yet another spoofed number being used by cyber criminals. As this number was not recognised it was left to ring out with no message being recorded on completion.

It is Mater Lotteries.... I do support them, when I can, but stop calling me, I cannot answer my personal phone in work time, they never leave a message... and if you then call it back, the recorded message says we will contact you... which means, you are going to miss the call... I buy the tickets, when I want, from the website via the emails they constantly send.... so I have also blocked this number.

Caller: Unknown Number - Mobile

Many years ago I worked for a telemarketing organization in Victoria who were contracted by various companies to make telephone sales calls on their behalf.
During my time with these companies I learned quite a lot about the crap telemarketers have to endure from members of the public who assume each person who calls them from Australia (or other English speaking countries with Australian accents) knows what their meal times, their personal circumstances or challenges within their families are. We who have worked in these fields understand your frustrations because WE ALSO have telephones AND have received similar calls.
The difference between us, is we who have worked in this field know these calls are not scammers, hackers or thieves, (sounds like a song from Cher, doesn't it). They are from people trying to make an honest living working for a company providing a service for other companies who do not wish to have their sales staff put up with the crap dished out by persons who know no better and are looking for someone to bitch about because they are not smart enough to know how to find a telephone number to call MPH.
I have been purchasing tickets from MPH and others for quite a while and each time I have needed to speak with callers I have found all of them bar none to be totally respectful toward me and very helpful with my requests; - Of course being respectful myself goes a long way toward a great outcome.
These calls originate from a telemarketing company contracted by Mater Lotteries for Mater Prize Homes.
The calls are a service provided by MPH to ensure those who have purchased tickets previously may wish to do so again.
If you do not wish to be contacted anymore, do the right thing and call MPH on the number listed on their website (or their email address) and let them know you no longer wish to be contacted by them. They will then take you off their list. See https://www.materlotteries.com.au/about/privacy
However because you have requested this remember YOU are the one who asked for this to happen.
When you no longer receive marketing material from MPH, you will then know it is because A PERSON WITH YOUR NAME requested it.
And if you feel YOU have a better way of contacting people who may have forgotten, offer you own services to MPH and others free of charge so you can represent charities in the manner you believe they should be represented.

This number belongs to Mater lotteries. They sell tickets to win a multi million dollar property as well as cars and gold bullion, the money spent on tickets goes to the Mater children's Hospital. This is not a scam nor is it a hacker.

I keep getting missed calls from all sorts of mobile numbers starting with 0488. They either don't leave messages, or they trigger your voicemail recording and leave a split second of weird-a** audio and hang up. Creepy weirdos calling, no idea who these cretins are but what they're doing is illegal, immoral and an abuse of the telecommunications services. People conducting themselves in these ways should be banged up in the clink indefinitely until they learn how to properly use telecoms. I've said it once and I'll say it 1,000 times. When Telstra was Telecom Australia and government-owned, if someone harassed/threatened/made nuisance stalky repeated calls to you, even repeated creepy silent hang up calls via fixed phone (not that many people had mobiles in those times), you would call Telecom, report it and they would put a trace on your line and monitor it for you. If that someone called you again, they would catch out the perp, they would be able to pinpoint the origin of the call and they would call them and give them a stern warning to stop their conduct or they would be reported to the cops and prosecuted. It worked every time, it stopped the behaviour. In other words, customers of Telecom Australia were PROTECTED as well as RESPECTED. This should be the case for mobile phone account holders too, especially law abiding ones who are minding their own bizzo and working hard and paying bills and taxes. Bring back those days of early 1990s and RESPECT telecommunications and all customers. Don't get me started on use of the internet. I'll try and put this comment in for each and every number that I end up blocking. These spam warning services are about the only we can collectively best these modern day pests and fight back against this wasteful and immoral conduct. Block these numbers.

Caller: Maybe Mater

It seems to be Mater Hospitals/come real estate ticket sales. However one mobile number for the amount of calls that go out to the community doesnt make sense to me. Each call takes at least 30 seconds to complete with no contact, & onto the next number?. So at best 100 to 120 calls per hour.

I too have worked in such a system where I engaged person/s to make calls & set up appointments/sales. The PROBLEM is that theses callers dont leave a message when they make a call. The INTERNET has made the worlds people, LAZY and buyers of products & throws the responsibility to the buyer if they dont get the right product with no recourse to recover any losses as a result of some sort of claim.
The canvassers dont get paid for making 120 to 150 calls an hour. Like most employers in the fields, the canvassers get paid PER HOUR & PERHAPS A BONUS FOR A CONFIRMED APPOINTMENT. So to blame US, COZ WE ASKED FOR IT, IS CRAP. Sure you can opt out, but when an unidentified ringer who refuses to leave any message makes contact you can ONLY assume you are targeted by a potential scammer.
If they have your phone number why is it then, that they cant ( A ) leave a message? ( B ) send a simple text, missed you do you want to buy something from us) ? Apparently the COST is exactly the same ( to my knowledge unlimited calls & texts is a standard for mobile phones ).
There is a great void of responsibility that the internet has generated from peoples reality of knowledge, for any item the wish to purchase.
IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO BUY THE ITEM YOU WANT, NOT THE SALES PERSON TO TELL YOU OF THE BENEFITS OF THIS OR ANY OTHER PRODUCT THAT MAY BE SUITABLE. JUST THE ONES I SELL.
Im my opinion treat them all as scammers till you can confirm they are legitimate, just dont give them any access to money, bank accounts or any personal information. Theres enough of that on Facebook or Google to fill "The Cloud"
