These people are unbelievable. I block their number and then they ring on another number, every day around lunchtime.
Numbers they have used 0488 800 997, 0488 801 178, 0488 801 246, 0488 827 762, 0488 801 214. 0488 827 764. I will give them marks for persistence but they are wasting their time because I am never going to answer.

I appreciate anyone who has ever answered one of these calls and shares the information for those like me who screen my calls . I am another victim of the "I don't answer" group who then googles - blocks - and gets another 2 calls a day from a similar number . Doesn't matter how many numbers you block they just call from another . Whether you answer or not . I imagine this is what "Ground Hog Day" feels like . I understand people have to take crappy jobs to keep food on the table and bills paid but I'd sure like to get the number of the owner of this company and share that with everyone . OVER IT

All 0488 nunbers are controlled by Pivotel. Telstra should block them as I am sick to death of getting endless calls from 0488 with different digits following every time they call me so I cannot block any specific number as they will just use another 0488 number the following day. It happens every day on my mobile.

Everyday calling me with different numbers but it starts always with 0488..... in a day four to five times they rang me .I blocked them then they use another number ? It’s unending nuisance calls everyday ! I reported to my provider and they reported to scam alerts however they continued to ring me using different numbers!

Firstly block every number that is used. Secondly don't give in to curiosity and phone a missed number back. That's what they want. I was getting two to three calls a day,just like people above here. Once the number is blocked it goes nowhere which leaves them nothing. In fact the mobile never gives any indication it was attempted as the blocking is instant, it will show up as blocked. My nuisance calls stopped some two weeks ago. Just block the bodgy number as it turns up. I recorded eight numbers to date covering mobile, landline, pager and fax machine.

Exactly the same scenario with me, they call, I block their number, they call me back from another number, block again! This goes on all afternoon.
But what I found strange today although I’ve blocked most of these numbers over the last week, today they are calling me again from some of the same numbers?? How can that be??

It was widely reported on the Radio that calls like this are being received with the notion of once connected you are charged a fee at the higher rate especially if you call back. If you can block the number then do so no matter how many times it is changed. Once you see the 0488 number hang up and then block. I suspect this number sequence is on an automated system. If the call goes straight to an answering machine it usually ends abruptly. That tells me it requires human intervention to open up the line to your account. Just a guess. Calls usually starts around midday Qld time to anytime up to 7:30 pm DST. I understand Telstra is trying to prevent this number sequence from being used.

What do they achieve by giving missed calls?

Yep - they call me every day, despite me telling them to stop calling me and blocking their number, they continue relentlessly!!!!!
