Responded to Gumtree ad via WhatsApp number +63 949 704 5028 (as per previous posts), asked multiple questions already answered in ad description. Offered to pay by courier.

Same as above, "J. Groos" on WhatsApp but using a different number 0420 768 360

I had same experience on Gumtree with a Whatsapp message from J Groos of Devenport Tasmania. They sent a supposed AusPost payment link by SMS. The link went to a web portal requesting my credit card details. Didn't put them in. The Aus Post website looked very real. But the item they were offering to buy was strange.... not worth the money they offered and then they were saying they'd ship it to Tasmania at their expense meaning it would cost them twice as much.

Same issue with this caller - should I do anything with my bank - I did click the link but didn't give them the code phew!

J Groos replied via What’s App to a Gumtree Ad. Asked lots of questions about the item, seemed genuine. Offered to pay by AusPost Secure. Sent me a link to receive payment but instructions in link were in Croation. Tried to receive payment but didn’t work fortunately as I had blocked international payments. J Groos is a scammer!!!!!

Yes same as above. Listed something on gumtree and within a few minutes was whatsapped with a plethora of questions. Then purported to want to pay and gave me a supposed Austpost link. Have reported to Aust post and whatsapp and blocked number

I had a item on Gumtree, got a Whatsapp message, agreed to but item from me, and pay via "Secure Payment" through Australia Post and a Australia Post manager would contact re a courier pickup of item . Sent me a text from legitimate looking Australia Post, saying item paid for and a link to "Redeem payment" and a name & address for Courier to drop item off at. Scam watch Australia has been advised
