Got a message saying my child got a new phone and needed $6900. Strange considering I don’t have kids

Calling about my child needing money. Little bit sus considering I myself am 16 🤭

Caller: Sent a message from this number, did not call

Claimed to be my daughter, said she had broken her phone and this was her new number and please delete her other number. Asked if I could put money into her bank account as bank had froze her account for 28 hours and she was trying to pay bills. I tried to call this number it rang but then hang up. They sent a message saying "sorry mum was on another call to bank" I then called my daughter through another app to find this was indeed not her and still had her original phone. SCAM BLOCK IMMEDIATELY

Scammer texted claiming their phone had broken and they had a new number. Needed to make an urgent payment and their bank had blocked their payment because of the new phone number. All plausible as sounded like my niece who's phone had broken and been replaced on that same day. She owns a business so the urgent need to make a payment by close of business was also very plausible. I was busy with grandchildren so made the payment....

tried to scam me into sending $9900 via electronic payment claims it’s my sons new ph number
