Caller: Energy Aust

Received Fri 17/03/23 at 9:08am. A legitimate call from Energy Aust, just giving a reminder that the bill is due soon. Even though the details are correct there's no way I would click on any link in an SMS. It would have been useful if I had actually forgotten the bill was due but since I still insist on a paper bill, which I can see on my desk every day until it's paid, this reminder wasn't necessary.

A message from energy Australia. They told me my bill was overdue, true. Account details, all true. However I didn't have the funds so I tried to call the number that sent the message. My phone said this number doesn't exist. This is potential fraud.

Supposedly Energy Australia telling me of an amount I was supposed to owe. Never received a bill about said amount to start with so incredibly suss. No way would I risk clicking on the links provided.

Reminder by SMS to pay electricity bill purportedly from Energy Australia on 0481 025 208. Amount didn't match what I owed as noted in an email sent from Energy Australia 2 weeks earlier. A bit of a concern, but independent check on Energy Australia website confirms SMS. Nothing like inconsistency to pique your warning radar. Glad it turned out not to be indicative of a data breach.

According to all the other comments, it's from Energy Australia. Had a missed call 3/12/24, I haven't even had my own electricity account for 4 years.

Recieved a Sms supposedly from Energy Australia, account details incorrect as is the amount, says to press 1 if paid recently, i get my bills hard copy, TOTAL SCAM

Got a text 12/2/2024 about a bill with energy Australia. Not with Energy Australia.

It was supposedly from Energy Australia reminding me of bill to be paid.
My electricity account details were correct however the among owing was not. The bill had already been paid with acknowledgement within my Energy Australia app.
This seems really suspicious. Have never received a text reminder before let alone a text reminder for a bill already paid.

Scammer trying to get you to cluck on the link and put your hard earned money into their account.
Please screen shot the message and report it to scamwatch. The more evidence they have, the more chance these people will be investigated and prosecuted.
