Has anyone received an actual call? Is this a scam?

This number belongs to a paid research company that conducts a range of research projects on behalf of different research groups and institutes. It is not a scam but they will invite you to participate in a phone interview of some type.

Received the following text message from this number:

Yes I got this message today. I ignored it as it seems suspicious.

When call back, the answer was “this number is not connected”.
Pretty suspicious.

they said they were the police doing a survey of crime - I am thinking they will deduce whethter you are an easy target or not!

I googled The Social Research Centre in Melbourne and spoke with a receptionist who verified that this mobile number was one of the ones they use for cold calls = it is a legitimate number.
