After making loan application and supplying information I've been contacted about purchases and credit cards in my name that I no nothing about

I made an application for a loan and am hesitant about paying $370 insurance for unsecured loan since supplying my information I have been contacted about unauthorised purchases on credit cards I don't have being told that they are in my name attached to my only bank account. I have never applied for any credit cards, ever.

Contacted by Australian Smart Finance Pty Ltd 30th September 2025, claiming that they had received information from their online marketing team in relation to an enquiry for a debt consolidation loan. I had actually done this via google search days prior through legitimate platforms. They requested usual supporting documents for this unsecured loan. ID, pay advices etc. Received electronic contract to sign, completed and returned. Advised that once l had paid the loan protection insurance premium of $390 the proceeds of $10000 would be transferred directly to my bank account. Paid the $390 via Moneygram, from my CBA account, received a Westpac receipt with amount of $10,251. Advised next day that l had to pay the extra $251, also via Moneygram, as this was "unexpected taxes" incurred by the company. Tried to have this deducted from the loan proceeds, upon which they refused. To date l have had no further positive correspondence, just excuses.. I have lost $600 on the promise of being able to sort my debts with an unsecured loan that has not happened. All ASIC searches etc that l have done appear legitimate. ACN & Credit Licence numbers match with no blacklisting. The representative name on emails l have received are Francis Estrella, Loan Advisor
