Caller: Sophie - Red Cross

Legitimate Red Cross number and have communicated via SMS.
Usually calls when credit card expires or a payment didn't go through (credit card number change etc)

Received an SMS from Sophie who could give my name in the text and the correct amount I denoted to flood appeal. She sent me a link to share the update but I did not click the link.
After reading the posts, I blocked this number.

I previously reported this as a potential scam due to malware being identified in a bit.ly link. I phoned red cross to report this but they told me that this number is in fact legitimate - it's the bot they use to communicate with donors, and so the malware hit must have been a false positive, however they no longer use bit.ly links anyway as it did not work in any event.

I repeat - I have verified that this is a legitimate number by phoning Red Cross. However, always beware of scams or links which attempt to impersonate legitimate businesses, etc etc.

Had several messages previously. Appears to know when my credit card expires (!). Appears to be valid Red Cross messages not asking for anything, just saying thanks. Unusual use of emojis (emotion icons). HOWEVER, went back and scanned a bit.ly link sent about a tax receipt that I never clicked - MALWARE identified.

SCAM NUMBER - EXTREME WARNING - BLOCK AND REPORT

This is a legitimate number from RedCross. Confirmed from their security team. Even if you call this number, it will take you to their customer service.

Looks like a scam as Red Cross usual contact details 3-digit numbers ended with 283.

Caller: Claimed to be Sophie from Australian Red Cross

Wanted to share an inspiring story about Elijah with a clks.to which provides no means to verify the bonafide of the link. Advised the person: "I've previously asked not to be contacted by the RED CROSS as coercion after a donation."

That the provision of requisite information was for taxation receipt purposes and not dishonest conduct by the RED CROSS

Such is disrespectful conduct.
