Same as above, never authorised an add, sent a magazine with a dodgy add and phone call requesting I pay $390. Had advertised in AiPOL which is professional, assume this is where they got my details. Will not be paying and will be reporting to Police today. Caller: Teagan from Crime Prevention Australia
Just got a phone call from a very rude person called Teagan who claims that I agreed to a sponsorship for Crime Prevention Australia which we supposedly discussed over the phone at the end of July. She said I told her to ring back. I have no such affiliation with this person and she was extremely rude to say that "I wouldn't be calling you if we didn't have this conversation". This is a recurring theme with these bastard scammers. I have previously been scammed by The Local Support Network who kept ringing me every couple of days and insisted that I agreed back in February and that she had all her notes that I said to call back etc etc. Then they sent me a "proof" of the advertisement that I supposedly agreed on. Because she was pushy, I just wanted to get rid of her and I questioned myself if I did maybe agree to it before. I ended up paying $330 for it. Anyway, that was a mistake.
A few weeks later, I got another email with a proof ad, and another phone call from someone who sounds exactly like the Local Support Network woman, claiming that I agreed to an ad for the "Australian 000 Journal". The format of the email was the same, they even misspelled my name exactly the same! This is when I really dug deeper and found that these scammers have the same ABN and purporting to operate from different offices, which I investigated and found that they were all satellite offices (the one that anyone can hire by the hour as an office). They were using these addresses as their office address! I crosschecked these scam companies and they were mixing the photos around to look like they had legit offices! Beware of this ABN: 32 165 411 629. They operate a few scam companies,so please be wary of these:
Pristine Business Information Services
Australian 000 Journal
Local Support Network
Children With Different Abilities
Australians Defending Australia
Workplace Hazards & Safety
They all have the same looking website so BEWARE!!!
I don't know how these scumbags can sleep at night, scamming people of money while pretending they are giving community support! These people need to be put in jail!!!
I placed an add in a Streetsmart booklet I think Novemeber 2017. Anyway, Early May 2018 I get a phonecall from a mobile phone. It was a lady saying she was from some publication to do with kids and I had ordered an add with them late last year. She said I agreed to it and also told me a received a proof of the add in my POBOX and alledge I told them it was all good to go. I don't remember any of this!
Anyway, I had to give her a 4 digit number (she suggested my date of birth)- phishing?
So that 'Distribution' knew it was me calling. I told him I don't remember placing this add so he arranged the lady who originally called me to call me back. She did, I asked her to email me the invoice and she agreed to it. She said if I paid now over the phone that I would get a discount, and also Jason said he could give me a further 10%. I said I can't afford it right now and to email me the invoice.
It's been 4 days now and no invoice. They're not answering on either of the mobile numbers they called me on. 0423 825 798 & 0421 616 404)>
I only decided now that it seemed really sketchy so i googled the numbers and came across all the other people they've tried to or successfully robbed.
Told me my boss (my husband ) said we'd agreed to advertise in this book.. Sent the book and very pushy and rude about paying when I asked questions about when he agreed etc.. We stupidly fell for it as it was around the time of "do it for Dolly." Same Here..said i had agrred to advertise...nothing in writing just sa id 'yes' over the ph in october. And yes, i had just ageed to advertise in the police mag and i knew i hadn't committed to anything else cos we had only just opened. Wanted my address which i stupidly gave her plus a 4 digit number that i could remember...maybe a date of birth or pets name..thought was getting very odd so gave a 4 digit number that i plicked out of the air. Then she couldn't read my name on the invoice so could i spell it. I was in the supermarker so semi distracted but again i started asking questions at which point she said thank you for my support snd hung up. I rang the number back but no answer...surprisingly!!!.. thank you for all the comments. I cannot believe these scumbags....we are worjing our rings off to get up and running...we don't need parasites Exact Same Scenario and process just happened to me.
Don't recall the "supposed call in November" confirming ad.
Got a call from lady confirming that "books were printed" with my Ad
then got a call from despatch confirming address - i rejected delivery and told them to contact me to discuss
Literally just hung up on lady jsut now (22Feb @ 10.00) who game me a return number (02) 8089 1426 - not sure if its real.
Told her to email me details of what I (supposedly) agreed to ...
Still no money sought though price is $395 "for one year"
I'll update progress when next I hear from them.
Someone phoned me several times with no message left. I finally called back and said why are you phoning and not leaving a message, She said of who is this, sorry I have been busy today in meetings, didn't have time to leave a message. Yeah right. Then she said that my advertising proof was ready that I had ordered in November. I got confused thinking it was something else I donated to - the police.
She also asked me to create a password - my middle name.
She asked if I had a PO Box, and I said no.
These people are fishing for your details to scam you and hack your information.
When she said I owed over $500 I said I had already paid for the ad I ordered, and seen it in print. Oh no thats not us, we phoned you in November and we reserved your ad space.
I said I did not speak to you, but feel free to send you stuff and I'll have a look at it. I then have had 5 voicemails of noone on the other line, background talking this afternoon. It seems so obvious, but unfortunately, people are getting scammed, especially people who work in business with other departments who will be convinced the company has ordered this ad. I can't stand this, what scum
A man called to thank me for agreeing to advertise in thier mag claiming I had agreed to advertise in Nov 2017 and the mag is ready for publication and I cannot back out now.
Soon followed was a call from accounts and I declined to pay and he started get a little aggressive.
I then received a call from the first gentleman who reiterated that the agreement was in place and I do not have to pay immediately and that a mag and invoice would be sent to me. Well they have turned up and being suspicious of this whole set up, I googled and found this forum .
Thank you all who have posted .
same thing, have donated to police and fire magazines and now this scam. have reported to scam watch. the childrens alliance abn is actually cancelled since november. still active as STAR DIGITAL ANSWERS PTY. LTD.
$391 down the drain. even sent me a receipt which looked legit but at the bottom it says that they dont claim to be a charity and the address etc doesnt seem to exist.
Scammer! These scammers tell you that you approved an ad for publishing and then charge you. Completely incorrect. They even send a reasonably impressive looking magazine with your ad. Only problem is that there are major errors which clearly indicate that the ad has never been provided to them nor proof read. In fact, they just pull the information off the net and other sources but end up with wrong logos and business details. Dead giveaway. Then they have someone call saying they are from Charles Sturt University to legitimise the publication. Almost clever if they were stupid! Here is a link to a similar scam by someone who was caught. Soon we will see this guys busted when ACCC investigate them. BE WARNED! 100% SCAM.
Previous comments are correct. These guys replicated a legitimate model of advertising that I have engaged in with other print companies. They would have known I advertised in another magazine and obtained some of my details from their. They go under the name Children's Voice and have an ABN registered under the name Star Digital. They pretend you have already approved the advertising and it has been published. When I review the advertisement it had several errors including the wrong business address. They pulled information off my website. There is no information in the magazine to identify them. There is no evidence it ever gets circulated. The other advertisers in the magazine are missing contact details so the whole magazine is a fraud. They also have people calling saying they are from Charles Sturt University and want to collect marketing materials for their students. This is another part of the scam to legitimise the publication. You cannot contact them by phone as it goes to voicemail with no message. The address they provide was used falsely by someone to try to get out of a traffic offence. On the paperwork they send they say 'This is not a bill. You are not required to send money even though they are asking for all your credit card details which they also try to take over the phone. These guys are persistent and their scam is elaborate. They are also aggressive. Be warned. THIS IS A SCAM! The phone numbers they use include: 0411 076 116 and 0478 039 167. Absolute SCAMMERS! Children's Voice did not have consent to use our business in advertising and continued to harass the boss with calls. They got into an argument and they said they do not need written consent AS IT IS A CHARITY! Rob
I've blocked calls on several different numbers now. Police can't tell me if it is a scam or not. Were you able to get hold of any authorities. Or any advice on what to do next
These people contacted us (New Business) and actually lied and said they were from the police magazine. So the next thing I know I have a magazine with our advert in it with NO authorisation from us!!!!! Like everyone else, I cannot get in touch with them - thank god I did not pay. Have reported it to the relevant departments and the police! Same as everyone else but looks like this scam...
This scam is still going around people. Of all the comments I have read, I have had the exact same experience. They were starting to bully me as well. Just tell them that they are scammers, you have called the police and reported them. Hope this helps. same as most posts rang him back couldn't give me an email address or any info concerning this "he was only the boy administration deal with that i said i never agreed and he hung up 4 missed calls since tuesday. and I finally managed to answer the call.
They also knew i had advertised in a police run mag. They also said "your advert in such and such a publication" and the price that I owed due to the publication they asked for my mailing address which I gave and also they asked for a password which I gave as my middle name
First it is the Police, Then Voice, then crime magazine. The lady on the phone said that I have committed to a one time ad. This is not true.
Yes sounds like a scam, they have hounded me by women called Michelle saying i had agreed to it silly me gave them my address when asked to update details. They also knew i had advertised in a police run mag. When i said i will not pay she said you will have to speak to accounts and could not get off the phone quick enough. I tried ringing back but went to a voice mail, the strange part then occurred when the number called me back 5 min later with the same voice asking if this was the phone of Amy, i said no and then I asked if it was Michelle who called me on the same number her reply was "ummmmm no" then hung up.
