Well after reading this it looks like they got me too. I have a new business and did advertise in the Fed Police mag, which I saw a copy of, and thought this was legit too. Stupidly I paid over the phone.........aghh.
I also had a call from a Crime Prevention mag who said I had agreed to a one off add and once I told them I didn't and actually can't afford it the never called back. BEWARE PEOPLE.
Vic Streetsmart Handbook, SES magazine, National emergency services magazine, Nieghbourhood Safety Journal, Crime Prevention Australia, Paramedics handbook, Firefighters Handbook, Australian 000 Journal,Workplace Hazards & Safety.
The list goes on Ladies and Gentlemen, every one of these "publications" has contacted me over the last 6 months, all adds are around the same price $369 to $420, all offering a discount if you pay over the phone. All of them guarantee that i authorised the add some time before and now the invoice is due. i feel really stupid as i have actually paid a few of them to date.
Please Please Please warn other small businesses of this scam
If anyone can shut these people down please do this has seriously damaged my small business, and I'm now hanging on by a thread.
Yeh i have had this too. She got me at a time when i was doing similar advertising, so it seemed believable. But cant call her or her"distributions office" back on there mobile numbers. When they did call me i could here children and house hold noise in the background... They did send me the booklet i am supposedly advertised in. The invoce has in bold,"This is not a bill. You are not requied to send any money (AUST CONSUMER LAW REQUIREMENT )." Definitely a scam. Yep, i had exactly the same - It started after i had excepted advertising in the AiPOL - Aust Institute Police Magazine in approx oct 17. They are proper. Then i received a call from The "Childrens Voice Magazine", approx a couple of months later who initially didnt ask for money but made out i woud l be advertising in this mag and everything was all good and they would arrange the ad for me to check before publishing. (i actually hadnt ordered this ad at all.) Then on the 23rd Jan i think i got 2 separate calls from a lady confirmng all my address details etc. and reading out how the ad would read, and of course it all sounds absolutely correct....still no payment asked for but in all creates a picture of a big company when different people, from "different departments" ring confirming the same thing and quoting the last persons name. Then later the same day, a guy rang for payment saying it was now being published and payment at publishing meant you could secure a 10% discount and your copy would be posted out the next day,(or something like that... i asked for the invoice to be emailed through and i would fix up the payment that night, however he said thats ok but i cant provide the discount. so foolishly i paid then and there. i rang their landline ph only yesterday, went to voice message, and suprisingly they rang back! i said i hadnt received the mag or the artwork to approve. The guy said he would arrange another mag to be sent and emailed me the artwork! - its a copy of the AiPOL ad! No mag yet.
i have also had another one on just this past Mon 12th Feb 18 and they were from the "Crime Prevention Magazine"!! they are scum bastards. Watch out!
Well people these Scammers (advertisers) are back at it again so beware.
Unfortunately we had been stung a couple of times for advertising until the penny dropped and a bit of investigation happened.
Still going through the same routine of ringing and saying that they spoke to us in November 2019. Lucky they rang the boss who in no uncertain terms told them to #%^ off, only way to stop these mob from calling. I had even sent through emails to them to take us off their register and that I would contact them when I wanted to advertise.

Comment has been removed Caller: Nancy Cole at National Crime Prevention
Said she had spoken to me in October and again in December (I always keep notes because of so many of these scams) and said our ad was ready for distribution and an email with payment options and ad for approval would be sent. I mentioned that I did not remember speaking to her, and she was adamant. I said I always keep note in a pad of these calls as we had received a lot of calls saying people had spoken to us before and they had not, and that I did not have anything written down at all about this ad. I mentioned that we always asked for a confirmation email but we hadn't received one either. Same as Caz she asked for a 4 digit number or a password too. I actually asked where they had got the logo from as it wasn't from our office. Said she was going to find the recording of the phone calls and then call back. I think she knew I was onto her anyway by then.

So, I have had 3 calls this morning. The first was from Nancy 0478 711 529 who claimed she had spoken to me late October & I had agreed to an Ad which is due to be published in about 10 days time. She asked me for a 4 digit pin number, recommending DOB, but I didn't give her that.
I then got a call from Elizabeth (a private phone number) saying she needed to confirm some things & it would be recorded. I told her that I cannot recall ever agreeing to this Ad, that I had agreed to another publication, but not this one. She then got Nancy to call me back (same number as her first call) & she said "oh yes, I called you late October & again in December & you agreed to it".
I am supposed to get a proof sent to me via email & I am assuming then they will try to get some money, but having read this, they won't get anything out of me!
I did sign up from the QLD Streetsmart Magazine which I believe, after doing some research, is genuine, but I did get scammed back in 2014 by the Police Magazine scammers.
Note to self - do not advertise is something you have never heard of!
Caller: Scam classified advertising call in "charitable magazine"
They all follow the same protocol, don't get done over like I have. They seem to work in cells with an ABN attached to each "publication" They say you've agreed to some advert in some arbitrary magazine with a Charitable name and you now need to pay them, seems to be around $400. It started off with me accepting one ad and then the next that followed I hadn't accepted. If they ring just HANG UP and call www.scamwatch.gov.au, if no luck here I'm going to the State Crime Command.
I have stupidly paid over 3 grand, nearly lost my marriage, My business is purely hobby orientated . Because I have memory issues I thought that I had agreed to these adverts and forgotten . CWDA , Bushfire response, Police news, street smart, (they never sent copies of magazine) ,National Emergency Services and now Feel Safe and the National Emergency Services . I have asked if I am on some list that is passed around , no answer. And yep some have 1300 numbers that go to voice mail. Yes I have been duped as well as have paid a few, well CWDA called today threatening as collections fee, I am glad I found this info.
As a small businesses I can do without this loss.
Clever little bastards, I said to one I cant remember asking for this, they got a boss to call me assuring that they were a real firm.
Well I pay no more. feeling very dumb indeed.

Just had an argument with this piece of crap who had the audacity to tell me to educate myself. I have obviously done this and that is how I found this site and all the people that have been ripped off. I have posted on here previously and just giving an update on their aggressive tactics. Really had enough !! Children With Different Abilities, get stuffed !! Phone numbers they use 0423 683 465, 0423 689 849, 0423 683 156.

Just had another one from Children With Different Abilities, like a few reports on this page. Got done by the Health and Safety one. They tried it on with Statewise Emergency Response. Hope people read this before they get done.

same as above comments. Absolute scammers and are very rude and pushy, lucky for me I don't back down easy and am happy to push back when I know 100% that their "claims" are bogus! I just kept arguing every point and all they could do was repeat themselves as their knowledge of our business is limited to wherever they took it from till finally they hung up on me haha! hopefully they put our business on a do not call list due to dificut owner!
I have had the same. Even paid a couple, How dumb of me!!! After doing a little bit of research I believe I too have been scammed. You may publish your add in a legitimate magazine, or you may receive an email from a university student claiming to be researching within her media course or a person claiming to be a journalist doing research. Be aware because this is how they get your information. Then the magazines start ringing stating that you have booked an ad with them a few months ago. They are relying upon you to be that busy you think "oh yeh, I probably did approve of that" when I booked the other mag (the valid one). Their websites are elaborate as is the ad they produce. All very professional, but 100% BOGAS!!!. The magazines that rang me to date have been Local Support Network, Volunteer Rescue, Crime Prevention Australia, On Duty, Street Watch. They are non contactable, if you request a copy of the magazine with your ad in it. The links they send you are elaborate They all sound like services you would like to support, but be beware these magazines are non existent. We work hard for our money and I hate the idea that these scumbags are getting away with robbing us. The more people made aware of these scumbags the better. Funny, but when I scream and go ballistic at them over the phone and abuse them verbally they hang up pretty quick.
