Scammer, possible thief, or simple time waster, wanted to meet up for a car I have for sale on gumtree, when asked for name and location no response.

0468 437 049, Wanted to know if boat was for sale,1.5 hours after ad was posted. 1st Question how can i pay you. When asked to call, his mobile phones Speaker was damaged so he can't talk.Then asked for VCR report. This is a typical SCAMMER'S way to obtain a lot of information for their use.
Be careful everyone.

Just had exactly this happen, same MO. contacted straight after the ad was posted and asked the same questions as on here then wanted the VCR report... Just cut communication.

Also had a similar situation. Person interested in my vehicle for sale and saying they wanted a report. Very pushy with wanting the address asking for the precise location and saying i'm very interested etc.

So glad we are learning to check for scammers, this site very useful. Had same as the above. Person using basic English and requesting a VCR through a website link to purchase a caravan. No longer responded when I said we’d discuss further after looking at the caravan. Scammers are always the first ones to enquire about sales.

I am selling a camper on caravancampingsales.com.au and they texted me asking to come and look at the vehicle. Was arranging a time / date etc and then they asked for me to get a report from allvehiclecheck.com which I researched and lots of people complained about it. I refused to buy the report and they pressed me further so I've blocked them. Don't get scammed!

Text messages claiming to be Richard regarding a camper trailer. Requesting a VCR check and providing a fake website that when I google is listed as a scam for stealing credit card details.

Sent text message to me about a camper I had for sale and tried to get me to do a VCR report via "einspectioncarcheck.com". He text to say that he would pay for the cost of the report "no worries". When he continued to request this report I got a bit suspicious and found the website is a scam and now I've found out that the phone number is a scam too. Thanks everyone for reporting these things :)

Same as other responses, bike price is fine wants VRC. Went silent when I mentioned it sounds like a scam.

When asked to call me, said the same as previous people above 'my phone speaker is broken'.

This number contacted me about a motorbike I was selling. Asked me to provide a "VCR report" for the motorbike. Asked for the location, even though its clearly written in the ad. Thats when the red flag went off and I googled the number and it sent me here! Be careful. Do not give him any specific info or click on any links. I asked him if his name was William and if he had fixed his phone speaker..... no reply!

Same as others have mentioned, made contact straight after my caravan was listed for sale. Messaged saying they were very keen to buy and talking about payment method. I smelt a rat and searched here to confirm my thoughts.

Exactly the same as all the above happened to me. Asked for precise location, VCR and cash or bank transfer for $90k caravan, site unseen and pay asking price. Have blocked them also

Same situation as most above messages, i believe the person is not serious and wants to waist your time, probably a scammer so be careful

messaged about a caravn for sale- had the incorrect information so was obviously messaging multiple people. First question was precise location so im glad i looked on here to see that they are a scammer.

This number messaged me wanting to buy a truck I have for sale. Same scenario's as above. Cut communications when I called them out. Beware of these people. Got a second number doing the same thing a few hours later. 0468 453 994.
