Had text with "Hi mum, this is my new number. My phone is broken. Please send me a message on WhatsApp! 0457 199 266". This is a SCAM!

This bastard is causing families extreme distress. What are the authorities doing about this scum?

I've had 3 in the last week from this mob.

Yet another “Hi Mum…” scam message received
While its a good thing these warnings are being posted here, what is Reverse Australia doing about this ? Surely this information should be forwarded to the relevant authorities and/or telecom providers?

Hi Mum, this is my new number. My phone is broken. Please send me a message on WHATSAPP! 0457 199 266. Well I don't have kids but for fun I replied via text, not whatsapp but no response.
I hope parents don't fall for this...

Yes I got one also these people should be barred from having a phone all. Definite SCAM

The same as all the other reports....Hi mum....... etc.. phoned our child to confirm its a scam

Similar text message saying" my phone is broken" from my daughter then asked to me to xfer money to a third party and forward the transaction receipt back to this number 0457 199 266. All this via WhatsAp and a short time later all messages were deleted.

Caller: No idea

Got a txt saying “Hi mum, this is my new number. My phone is broken. Please send me a message on WhatsApp! 0475 732 198”

Dnt have kids, this a scam. The number it says to call is somewhere in Asia or France according to google and the number that contacted me is likely a Telstra number based in Aus.

Definitely not my child in trouble, as I have none.

Had a text message from this number starting "Hi Mum" ....... saying that the phone was broken, and this is the new number. Ended with please send a WhatsApp message to this number.
